Rockbrook Reminder

Rockbrook Elementary School's Weekly Updates 11-26-19

Wishing You and Your Family A Safe and Happy Thanksgiving

A reminder that there will be no school Wednesday, November 27th, Thursday, November 28th, or Friday, November 29th. If your family's travel plan necessitates leaving earlier than this, please check in with your child's teacher to see if there is work that can be done in advance or taken along for a car ride.

We hope that all of our families have a safe and enjoyable holiday in the company of family and friends.

At Rockbrook, we are so grateful for the supportive and kind community that makes our school a positive place for students and families to grow and learn.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Annual AHERA Notice

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986 (AHERA) requires each public school district to annually notify parents, staff, and employee groups of its asbestos management plans. A management plan is in place for Rockbrook and is available for review either at the school building or at the Westside Service Center, 9437 J St. Omaha, NE.

This school was originally inspected in the 1980’s and re-inspected by a certified inspector every three years thereafter. The three-year re-inspection was conducted in 2018, a ceiling tile inspection in 2019, and periodic surveillance will be conducted as required. No abatement activities are currently in progress or scheduled for the 2019-2020 school year at this building.

The Designated Person responsible for managing the District’s AHERA compliance and the contact person for questions or to review a management plan is the Director of Facilities, Russ Olsen (402) 390-8331.

Holiday Store - Dec 12th and 13th

Once again, we will be holding a HOLIDAY SHOP during the school day on Thursday, December

12th , and Friday, December 13th . The students who wish to participate will be able to select and purchase gifts for their family and friends during school hours. All of the gifts are moderately priced ranging from $.50 to $11. This program is an excellent opportunity for children to gain experience in selecting and purchasing items for others and handle money.

There will be items such as coffee mugs, jewelry, and tools to name a few. A display with some samples will be set up in the office after Thanksgiving.

Please see the sign-up genius if you would like to volunteer for a shift at the shop.

More detailed information will be sent home Friday, December 6 th .
