Welcome to Our New Staff!

Ms. Scinto

My name is K.C. Scinto and I am so excited to join such an incredible school community and the 3rd grade team! I’ve been teaching for 12 years now, most of it in the Bay Area. My family and I moved to the Sacramento area from San Francisco in 2015 and have really fallen in love with a more suburban lifestyle! I have two adorable little boys, Milo (4) and Nico (2), who keep me quite busy outside of school. In addition to teaching and getting to spend time with fabulous youngsters, I love reading, bike riding and being on the water. I’m a big sports fan, too, and love my San Francisco teams. I’m looking forward to a fabulous school year!

Mrs. Cowan

My love of teaching comes from a long line of educators in my family. They are my inspiration for teaching these past 8 years. Within that time I have grown so much as an educator and achieved a Master Degree in Education Technology at CSU Sacramento. My credential program also had a focus on positive classroom culture and targeted reading instruction. With this background, I have primarily focused on K-2 and love watching the development of students at this age both academically and socially. Recently, I have discovered a personal interest in computer science and coding. I can't wait to share what I have learned with my students as their future will be filled with opportunities to excel in that career path. Also, I enjoy reading, hiking, pretty much anything in the mountains, travel, and raising too many animals I keep at home.

Mrs. Hanks

Hello, I'm Ms. Sharon and I'm excited to join Mrs. Walters and the wonderful Special Ed team (K-3) as a Special Ed Instructional Aide. I am originally from Scotland and immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area over 20 years ago. I spent most of my career in the legal sector, working for the City Attorney's Office at the City of Palo Alto as a Legal Assistant. I relocated to Rocklin almost 3 years ago with my husband and son and we love our new community! My son is in 2nd Grade at Twin Oaks Elementary and I have spent the past few years volunteering at Twin Oaks. I have really enjoyed my time working with the students and staff, which led me to make the career move to a more permanent role. When we are not at school we enjoy swimming, long walks, reading books, traveling and spending time with friends and family. I am very excited to join the Twin Oaks family!

Mrs. Makofka

Mrs. Makofka is our new PE Instructional Aide! My name is Danielle Makofka but kids call me Coach Dani. I live in Lincoln with my husband and 8-year-old son, Carter. I have loved sports and athletics my whole life and have always believed that physical activity is important for everyone, especially children. I am a coach for the Lincoln Recreation department and truly love watching a child try and achieve. In this day of iPads, video games, TV etc., I believe Physical Education is more important than ever and truly look forward to helping the students of Twin Oaks Elementary work hard and play hard!

PTC Needs You!

Our amazing PTC is up and they are movin' and groovin' and planning lots of great family fun activities and events for the 2019-2020 school year. And we'd love to have you join the group! We had a great turn out for our stack and staple meeting...

Box Tops for Education!

The Box Tops for Education program is in a transition phase...over the next couple of years, the program will move to a digital-only program. Clipped tops will be honored until their expiration date, but there will be fewer clippable tops on the shelf. Please read THIS informational letter to learn how to continue to support Twin oaks with Box Tops!

History-Social Science (HSS) Curriculum Information

This year we have new History-Social Science Curriculum. For anyone interested in more information, parent information sessions will be hosted at Twin Oaks and the district office. The following sessions will be held in the Den (aka the Multipurpose Room):

Grades K-3, Tuesday, August 27th, 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Grades 4-6, Thursday, August 29th, 3:00-4:00 p.m.

Weekly instructional sequences are on our website under the Parent Tab which will continue to be updated as staff complete their planning!

Water Fill Station

We found an amazing opportunity so thought we would join this campaign to install water fill stations in place of our 20-year-old drinking fountains! Link to the campaign is HERE and on our Facebook Page!

We started this campaign at the end of last year and our Student Leadership Council will carry it on. The fill stations will provide filtered water for our students!
