Principal's Note...
This week was one to remind us that winter is right around the corner in New England! It sure was a cold start to the week, and the temperatures will be dropping over the next few weeks. This means that our preparations for winter weather will be put in action before too long.
One of the challenges this poses to elementary schools is outdoor physical activity time. It is very important for children (and adults) to spend time outdoors each day and to spend time being physically active. It is especially important for children to get their energy out and enjoy some mental downtime. Our goal is to get students outdoors for recess every day.
Please have your child come to school dressed to go outdoors for recess every day. This would included warm leg coverings (sorry boys...not shorts), a warm jacket, and hats/gloves at a minimum. Every effort will be made to have outdoor recess daily. However, rain, ice, and wind-chill temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit may necessitate indoor recess.
Thank you!
Have a great weekend,
-John

Toy Drive!
for their children. Kindly, a woman named Hailey Granger thought of and idea for Memorial school, to donate toys for families in need. Pathways for children announced an annual holiday store. It ends on December 17th. Pathways program partners with over 30 local businesses and over 1,000 toys to families enroll to the Pathways programs. If you are willing to donate. This toy drive is very unique because donations stay in our community meaning that neighbors are really supporting neighbors. From the donated toys, parents are able to chose of what their kids like. Not every student needs to give a toy, but imagine if we did? Wow, we could make a lot of children happy. Please don't bring in used toys like old stuffed animals. In this project kids of all ages from a
baby to a college student will be receiving toys or gifts. Anything is good to donate. For example, a stuffed animal, a gift card, a book, socks, baby rattle, and many more items will be good, as long as it is new. These people who you will be donating to
might not get a gift during the holiday season but Memorial can make a difference. When the kids wake up they will have a surprise waiting for them. In the front of our school there will be a big decorative bin to put all your donated toys. If you donate a
toy we can make a difference in holidays for families in need. It would be so generous to donate a toy, remember December is a time for giving.
