SAT/ACT Test Policy for Fall 2023 College Admissions
UC will not consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships. If you choose to submit test scores as part of your application, they may be used as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement after you enroll. UC Exam requirement
CSU no longer uses ACT or SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses. If accepted to a CSU campus, ACT or SAT test scores can be used as one of the measures to place students in the proper mathematics and written communication courses. Freshman: Testing Requirements
See if your college requires an SAT or ACT test, click here. If you do not see your college of interest, be sure to check directly on the freshman admissions webpage. Note that some private and/or out-of-state universities do not require the SAT or ACT for admissions, but might use a score for placement purposes or scholarships.
FairTest.org provides an updated list of 1,800+ four year colleges not requiring SAT and ACT test.
SAT/ACT Testing Dates 2022-23
Juniors! If you plan to take the ACT or SAT this school year, please pay close attention to the dates to avoid late fees or missing the test entirely. You can register for the SAT at the College Board website here. You can register for the ACT at the ACT website here.

Juniors, Career & College Planning Resources
When you think about your plans after high school, there are many different options. You could immediately start in the workforce, decide the Military is your path, enjoy a gap year, begin a trade school program, attend a two-year community college, and/or choose a four-year college/university. You may say to yourself, how do I get started? Your journey can start by researching different career options, gathering online information, creating a college list, getting a job or internship, and/or asking questions to those around you about their career paths. We've listed a few resources below to help you with this process. Last, but least, remember to enjoy the journey, take a deep breath, and know that you've got this!
How do I get started?
- Xello - explore careers and colleges. Every student has a username and password. Email ITHELP@powayusd.com for technical assistance.
