Fall 2021 Update for TAS Alumni & Supporters

Big picture

Anthony Alum (and Parents!)

Talk about coming full circle. Eleven years ago from this very day, I was coaching McKenzie Moriconi on the TAS cheer squad and teaching her in the computer lab. Today? Today, I pass her in the hallways on the way to her 4th grade classroom. I hired a former student! I’m not in disbelief so much as I am humbled that she would love a place so much she would want to return to it…to spend her days here molding young spirits and shaping young minds, instilling the love of learning she acquired here. She came back to teach and to guide. To push. To love. To lead. And to carry out our mission, vision, and values. Please join me in welcoming McKenzie (Class of 2011) to your alma mater’s staff and read further about her in our Alum Spotlight below!

Warmly,

Shana Nolen

TAS Alum Spotlight: McKenzie Moriconi

  • What years did you attend TAS? Kindergarten through 8th Grade (2003-2011)
  • What is your favorite TAS memory? It’s hard to pick just one memory, but I really loved getting to watch the new cafeteria be built and being able to enjoy it for 2 years. I will always remember the 8th grade trip to Dallas and Great Wolf Lodge.
  • How did TAS prepare you to be successful? TAS prepared me to be successful in many ways, but the one thing that really prepared me was being able to write papers. When I started high school at Mount St. Mary Academy, teachers would often ask if I attended TAS because of how well my papers were written and set up!
  • McKenzie, we are so proud to announce that you began teaching at TAS in August 2021. What do you love about teaching 4th grade at TAS? One of the things I love most about teaching 4th grade is the kids. They are so eager to learn and are extremely hard workers. They are funny, keep me on my toes, and teach me something new everyday! I also love the positive environment we create for our students. The environment at Anthony hasn’t changed since I was a student, and I love getting to be a part of it as a teacher now!

Stay in Touch

We want to stay in touch with our alumni! Are you a parent of an alum? Please forward this information to your child (and their friends) and ask them to provide us with their contact information. Click here to update your alumni contact information and help us keep our contact lists up-to-date!

We will keep you updated on our future alumni events (as soon as we can safely gather in larger groups) and exciting things happening at the school.

TAS Annual Fund

Like most private schools in America, revenue from tuition alone does not fully cover the cost of educating each child at TAS. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on other sources of income including gifts and donations from loyal members of our TAS community.

Donations to our Annual Fund directly benefit our students and teachers by maintaining and expanding programs that create an environment for the continued flourishing of teaching and learning, the building of solid foundations, and the instilling of confidence to succeed. Your donation helps our TAS community continue these traditions.

We invite you to join our staff, families, and other alumni in giving to our 2021-2022 Annual Fund today!

Donation in Honor of TAS Graduate

Joan & Dave Simon reached out to the school last year as their son, Reece, wrapped up his 8th grade year. They were interested in making a donation to the school in Reece's honor - as his graduation gift. We brainstormed several different ideas with them; they settled on purchasing benches for the Ohio Park soccer field. Thank you, Simon family, for your support of the school.

Facebook Group: The Anthony School Alumni

We recently started a Facebook group for TAS Alumni. If you haven't already joined, we encourage you to join today. We are here to support each other, share information about TAS, and promote alumni events.

THV11 Features TAS's Monarch Waystation

Theba Lolley with THV11 visited us last spring to learn about our Monarch Waystation, pollinator garden and our mural project. She had so much fun and asked us to invite her back when butterflies began arriving. She spent some time in the pollinator garden with McKenzie Moriconi's 4th grade class in September. As always, ParentCrew (our parent teacher association) is working hard to support the school, students, teachers, and staff. We would like to say thanks to Potbelly Sandwich Shop in midtown for hosting a Spirit Night in September.
