KPMS Faculty/Staff
Weekly Update
November 25, 2019
Happy Thanksgiving!
As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to thank you for being part of the King Philip family. I am truly grateful to be a part of a community with such wonderful and caring families, students, faculty and staff. Below, I've put together a short video of some of the great moments that we've had as a school so far this year (2 minutes, 22 seconds).
Warmest wishes to you and your family on Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Michelle

Trimester System Survey - Feedback Needed!
There has been discussion about potentially moving the whole school to a trimester system starting next year. In a trimester system, we would no longer have quarters -- the school year will be divided into three 12-week trimesters. Teachers would complete grade reports three times during the year (early December, mid-March, and the end of the year).
Before making any decisions, I would like to have some feedback from our staff members. Please complete the short survey below before December 1st at noon. Thank you!
Exceptional Child - Online PD at No Cost
The district has purchased a subscription for online professional development on a variety of topics through Exceptional Child. Topics include differentiated instruction, accommodations and modifications, and working with a variety of students students (e.g., students with ADHD, behavior concerns, Autism, gifted learners). To log-in, just use your email address as your username.
Evaluations -- How much evidence is necessary?
Over this school year, the middle and high school administrators will be meeting with the district administration to make sure that we have the same expectations for the district as a whole for next year and moving forward. For this school year, we will stick to the guideline mentioned above -- two pieces of quality evidence per indicator.
Faculty Meeting - December 2
The location for the December 2nd faculty meeting is the cafeteria.
Agenda Items:
- School Community Feedback
- Trimester Survey Results
- Team Etiquette
- MAP Growth Assessment
- Open 10
The "Open 10" at the end of the meeting is 10-15 minutes for faculty members to make announcements, share news, share concerns, etc. Please email me by noon on the day of the meeting to put an item on the agenda. Thank you!
December 12 PD
Our next PD day on December 12 is fast approaching. We are fortunate to have Allan Blume, who is known nationally as a speaker and consultant on a variety of topics related to special education and how to approach differentiation within the classroom.
A holiday lunch buffet for all will begin at 11:15 am, the start of the half day at the middle school. Please note that we anticipate that the Allan Blume presentation will run from 12:00-2:30 PM. This 15 minute time extension in December is in accordance with the contractual clause that allows unused time up to an hour to be added to the professional development day with 20 calendar days' notice being given if the Superintendent does not call for a meeting every two months (Article XVI,A)
