Tech Tidbits - Snowflake Edition
From your friendly elementary tech integrator!
Don't forget - we're looking for Nearpod pilot participants!
It's not too late to email me with your interest in participating in a Nearpod pilot during the second semester. To learn more about Nearpod, visit https://www.nearpod.com/how-it-works/
The Hour of Code is Here!
https://code.org/learn
Our students in grades K-6 will be participating in various coding activities through either unplugged activities and/or Code.org starting this week for a few lessons during STEM classes. HOWEVER - please know that students have access to these activities ALL YEAR LONG! There are Minecraft, Star Wars, and Frozen-themed activities! Your students will log in via Clever. Their progress will save as they work and complete levels of the activities. You can create your own account with an email address so you can experience the activities as well. If you are interested in tracking your students' progress, you can create a class section and ask kids to join. Email me with any questions or needs! Happy Coding!
Flubaroo Updates!
Why use Google Forms for assessments? Because you can use the add-on Flubaroo to autograde the assessment, and now, you can send students their scored results directly to their Google Drives! More info here!
Getting started with Twitter
A great guide from Jesse Stommel
"Why formative assessment should be an enduring priority for every teacher"
We love to share what you're doing!
Tim and I enjoy highlighting teachers who are incorporating the use of technology in their classrooms! Visit our Elanco Learns blog to read about your Elanco colleagues and PLEASE email me and Tim anytime you'd like to see something shared on the Elanco Learns blog - whether it's to nominate a colleague or yourself! And while you're there reading, don't forget to check out the available badges and grab those you've earned!
Sign up for the Global Read Aloud 2016!
The books in contention for the GRA 2016 are shared here, and you can sign up to participate with your class by visiting this post! There were a handful of GRA participants in Elanco during the first semester! Such an exciting opportunity to encourage collaborative, worldwide experiences!
