10 steps to becoming a U.S. citizen.
Step1:
Are you already a U.S. citizen? If not then go to step 2.
Step 2:
Complete your eligibility to become a U.S. citizen. You at least have to be 18 years or older and be a citizen for about 5 years.
Step 3:
Be ready for form number 400 Application for Naturalization. When you meet the goals to be a citizen you apply for form N-400.
Step 4:
Abide form number 400. Assign in your documents, pictures, and account.
Step 5:
Go to metrics consultation, if you are able to. USCIS requires fingerprints because of background checks.
Step 6:
Complete the interview.
Step 7:
Receive a decision from the USCIS on your form N-400.
Step 8:
Receive a letter to take the Oath of Allegiance. You may get to take the Oath the same day as your interview.
Step 9:
Take the Oath of Allegiance. You are not a U.S. citizen until you have taken the Oath so it is important not to miss it.
Step 10:
Understanding U.S. citizenship. Now you are officially a U.S. citizen!
