Miss Karla Jones Announces Retirement
As we prepare to bring the school year to a close, I want to let you know that I will be retiring from the Bristol Township School District at the end of this school year, June 2022.
It has been my honor to shepherd you, our students, and families in my roles as a secondary school counselor and library science teacher, working with every grade K - 12. I feel fortunate to conclude my career where I started at Armstrong while also working at Devine, Franklin, FDR, and Truman. My professional goals have been realized, of which I am most proud.
What I will miss most and will always carry with me is the memory of a student having a wide-eyed Aha! moment of discovery; simply the best!
I wish you all the very best that life has to offer.
You ROCK!
Stay well,
Miss Jones

PSSA Parent Letter
Dear Parents,
On April 26, 27, & 28, 2022, our students will be taking the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment – English Language Arts PSSA. On May 2 & 3, 2022, they will be taking the Mathematics PSSA. Eighth graders on May 4 & 5, 2022 will be taking the Science PSSA.
The purpose for having one test session per day is to assure that our student population is focused on achieving successful testing results.
Teachers and students alike spent many hours throughout the school year working to meet the state-required mathematics and ELA standards. Therefore, perfect student attendance and their special attention to testing detail on these dates is highly recommended. Please help us by encouraging your child to facilitate the testing requirements to the best of his/her ability. Please remind your child that all electronic devices should be off and given to the teacher.
Testing is only available in-person and on-site, and each virtual student will be scheduled to take the test in his/her/their home school. We remain committed to adhering to the guidelines in our district’s Health and Safety Plan.
If you have any questions regarding the testing process, please contact one of the administrators. Thank you for your continued support of Neil A. Armstrong Middle School.
Sincerely,
Ed Dayton

Mr. Dayton's SEL Tip of the Week!
Parents-
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Here are some ways you can support your child's mental health.
1. Talking about our feelings and thoughts doesn't always come naturally. Help your students practice by getting them to talk about their day and how different things/events made them think and feel.
2. Talking openly and regularly about mental health can support students to feel safe and more confident to talk about their own feelings.
3. It is important your student knows where to go to seek help! Provide them with information of mental health charities and helplines in case they want to reach out to somebody else for support.
4. Find the right time to engage in conversations about mental health. This may be 1 on 1 with the family.
5. Create a safe and nurturing environment where your student feels comfortable to come and talk to you when they feel the time is right.
6. A safe environment where a student feels as though they are feeling understood and listened to can help encourage them to speak out about their mental health.
7. Building mental health into everyday regular conversations can be useful. Whether that's checking in with your student or just asking how they are feeling, this can be useful for breaking down barriers!
