Promoting empathy and understanding is at the center of Westlake Hills Elementary School’s first ever Abilities Awareness Week which took place from September 23rd to September 27th. Congratulations Eric Levy of Westlake High School – CVUSD’s September Teacher of the Month

Eric Levy is a dedicated, fierce advocate for all students. He is a Special Education teacher at Westlake High School, and we are proud to call him our 2019 September Teacher of the Month. Mr. Levy, an educator at Westlake High School for more than twelve years, is a caring mentor and trusted colleague who others look to for advice when working with struggling students.Read more

Students & Staff in the Spotlight:

* Students from Newbury Park High School, Thousand Oaks High School & Westlake High School were recently announced as semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations on this outstanding academic accomplishment!

* Newbury Park High School senior Nico Young made history on Saturday, September 21st. He set a new national record with his 3-mile run time of 13:39.7 at the Woodbridge Cross County Classic. Congratulations!

* Thousand Oaks High School science teacher Dana Navarro was named a 2019 STEM Champion by VC STEM for her outstanding and innovative efforts to improve and provide educational outcomes in science, technology, engineering, and math for students.

New Vans Give CVUSD Students Access to New Opportunities

Over the last six months CVUSD has acquired five new vans for its specialized programs at Thousand Oaks High School, Newbury Park High School, Westlake High School, and Post-Secondary. These vans are utilized for community-based instruction, and for accessing workability job sites throughout the community that could otherwise not be accessed via public transportation or a school bus. In CVUSD, we promote cultures of kindness, with a focus on the social-emotional well-being of all of our students a top priority. Meet Kim Huber: CVUSD's Homeschool & Educational Programs Consultant

As the District’s Homeschool and Educational Consultant Ms. Huber will extend a service to community members, students and parents who are exploring homeschooling, personalized learning strategies and site-level program options. She will utilize her breadth of knowledge in these areas to guide, counsel and assist families as they learn about the multitude of diverse educational offerings available in CVUSD. Read more

Conejo Schools Foundation to Host 4th Annual State of the Schools

Learn about the current state of public education in the Conejo Valley at the 4th annual State of the Schools event with CVUSD Superintendent Dr. Mark McLaughlin and Conejo Schools Foundation President Mike Soules. The event is hosted by the Conejo Schools Foundation and will take place on Tuesday, October 15th at 7:30am at the CLU Lundring Center. Learn more

Online Registration is Now Open for Conejo Council of PTA's FREE Cardiac Screening Event

The Conejo Council PTA invites all students and athletes ages 12-24 to participate in a FREE Saving Hearts Cardiac Screening event on Saturday, October 19th in the Westlake High School gymnasium. Pre-registration for this event is required, and may be completed online here.

Reserve Your Spot: Reality Party for Parents

CVUSD Parents/Guardians are invited to a Reality Party for Parents on Saturday, October 12th. This free event gives participants the opportunity to tour a home set up to portray a teen party with youth actors voicing concerns expressed by local teens and young adults. Reservations are required, and may be completed online here.

Now Accepting Applications: Family Life Committee

The Conejo Valley Unified School District is seeking qualified, interested individuals to serve on a committee which will serve as the Family Life Committee (“FLC”). This committee will include a medical doctor, a religious leader/official, a District Advisory Council (DAC) member, a PTA representative, a school nurse and teachers.This application is for medical doctors and religious leaders/officials ONLY.
