Weather Delays
In case of a closure, we will not hold blended and our office will be closed. If it is not a blended day, teachers will have instructions on their class pages with further instructions for the day.
If we have a delay, typically the district will call a 90 min delay. However, since eDCSD has later than typical start times, we will run on a 60 min delay. If we have a delay on a blended day, we will start 1 hour late. If your student is riding the bus, their pick up time will be 1 hour later than originally communicated. If we have a delay on a virtual class day, we will run on a normal schedule.
Computer Check Out
If your student needs a computer, you may check out a device from eDCSD. We encourage your student to use their own device, if possible. Please note that a $100 deposit is required for check out and will be collected before checkout. The deposit will be refunded when you return the device in good condition. The deposit may be made by either cash or check in person. If you would prefer to pay electronically, you will need to contact the office before you visit the office so that we can put a $100 fee on your My School Bucks account.
If you have questions regarding technology or device specifications, please contact CJ Santiago at csantiago@dcsdk12.org.
Technology Support
If you are experiencing technology issues and need support beyond what your student’s classroom teacher can provide, please contact Ms. Gant at tgant@dcsdk12.org

What Happened this Past Week at Blended:
Parent Communication:
“This week your child had a Life Skills lesson around vaping, the effects of second and third-hand effects of vaping and the effects on the lungs.
Your child learned what vaping means and the harmful physical effects; the effects of second and third-hand smoke from vaping; and the effects on the lungs by participating in a pig lung demonstration.
As a parent it is important to know:
What do the new vaping products look like?
Where to look for them? (Including in the trash)
Why parents should not purchase gift cards for their child to use.
How they use these to purchase vaping products online.
Vaping Resources https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/basic_information/e-cigarettes/index.htm.
What is Coming Up at Blended:
On Monday, November 18th, students will meet from 9am - 12:30 pm. Students will have help sessions with teachers, Mindfulness, and complete a community service lesson.
Thanksgiving Basket Donations
The Elementary students are working to make a difference in the lives of others that could use a little extra joy in the midst of challenging times. They learned about 3 students in our own school community at eDCSD that could use our help. Please consider signing up to help one or more of these students. There is a sign up for each student.
You can drop off your donations off at the office no later than 11/18. Please label your items with one of the following labels: Elementary Girl, Elementary Boy, High School Boy. If you sign up for a perishable item, it would be helpful to bring the item later in the week of 11/18, if possible. (Please email Mrs. Byrd to help coordinate perishable items).
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Byrd: smbyrd@dcsdk12.org.
Virtual Parent Orientation:

Weather Delays
With the recent weather, we thought it would be good to communicate what our general procedure will be at eDCSD.

Team U.P. Parent Communication: This week your child’s Life Skills lesson was Self-Concept and Growth Mindset. It is important to be able to have / create a healthy, strong and positive self-concept in order to allow yourself to be happy. When individuals are feeling confident and satisfied with their self, they are then more likely to be able to avoid negative and unhealthy choices in life and show resilience. We completed an activity around growth mindset to encourage the students to remember that there is power in the way they think which is directly linked to behavior, choice and outcomes. We encourage you to take an opportunity to talk with your child about how they see themselves and how they feel that others see them. This would be a great time to help your child work on setting personal goals to boost their self-concept and keep them focused on positive choices. See the content shared through ParentInsider.com to get ideas about goal setting.
