Back to School Edition
Message from the Principal
Our construction crew has been hard at work all summer long working 7 days a week to get our building ready for the first day of school. I'm excited to share that we passed our Fire Marshal inspection and have been cleared for staff to be back on campus tomorrow afternoon.
Things are still very busy on campus and some items will be completed after school starts, but we WILL be ready for an amazing first day of school!
We are very grateful to the staff at Moore Elementary for welcoming our staff onto their campus this summer.
I also want to say a huge thank you to John Wesley United Methodist Church for all of their love and support throughout our entire renovation. The church has allowed us to use their parking lot for our staff and construction staff for the past year. This week they are allowing us to use the Wesley Activity Center for staff meetings since we will be back on campus but are still waiting on furniture deliveries. They have volunteers on standby to help us move and are providing our staff with a special treat on Monday during our campus professional development. We really appreciate their continued support of our staff and students! We look forward to continuing our partnership.
Our theme this year is Better Together! Bringing out the Best! We are the best when we have our school, our families, and our community working together for our students' success!
Best regards,
Ms. Midkiff, Principal
Construction Update - Please pardon our dust!
Due to more rain than usual this summer, our parking lot has not been fully completed at this time. It is schedule to be poured prior to school start (weather permitting), but it will still need drying/setting time before we can use it. Our buses will need to enter and exit the school using the same drive until the entrance lane and remainder of the parking lot are complete. Please do not enter the parking lot area during arrival or dismissal during the first weeks of school.
Furniture started arriving this weekend and our staff will be able to start moving back into the campus on Monday afternoon.
I ask for your patience and support as we start this school year on a very short timeline for teacher preparation of our classrooms. The fact that some things may still be works in progress does not mean that we are any less than thrilled to welcome our students back for the upcoming school year!
First Day of School
We had sincerely hoped to have an opportunity for students and their families to visit the campus prior to the start of the school year. The reality is that with our construction, our teachers and staff will see the school for the first time on Monday afternoon. It just is not feasible to have an event prior to school start. But, MARK YOUR CALENDAR for September 14 when we will have our in-person open house. We can't wait to see you in person!
If you choose to drop your child off on the first day of school, please remain in the car rider line and do not try to park as our parking lot is still under construction. Our car rider line drop off and pick up will remain in the lane in front of the cafeteria windows.
Please continue to monitor our district's Lead Safely Plan for updated information about our plans for a safe school year for our students and staff.
Yeager is a mask-friendly campus! Students are encouraged, but not required at this time to wear a mask. When you meet with your child's teacher during Meet the Teacher, you will have an opportunity to request a mask zone for your child if you choose. A mask zone is an area of the classroom with other students who are also wearing a mask. Parents who send their child to school wearing a mask may decide whether or not they also want their child in the mask zone. In the mask zone, we will keep masked students together as much as feasible.
All of our playground equipment will be available for students to use this school year. The hardtop is still currently unavailable due to construction, but it should be available for basketball by late September.
We will continue to sanitize frequently and have hand sanitizer throughout the building.

August 17 -Teacher Reveal and August 19th- Virtual Meet the Teacher
On Thursday, August 19, parents will have the opportunity to visit with their child's teacher for 10 minutes via Zoom. We had great feedback from parents and teachers last year who enjoyed the one-on-one time with the teacher prior to school start.
We look forward to scheduling an in-person open house on September 14, 2021.
Continued Enrollment Procedures
Apartment and Residential Leases- Current leases must be kept on file for each student for continued enrollment. If your lease has or will expire before the start of the 2021-2022 school year, a current lease will be needed.
All students on a Verification of Address Affidavit that have not completed the second required step of providing 3 documents with the correct address and their name as proof of residence will need to complete step 2. The affidavit is to establish residency for a student who is living with a parent/guardian in a residence that they are not owning/renting.
Failure to have current, up to date residential documents will result your child not receiving a homeroom assignment and/or starting school on the first day of the 2021-2022 school year.
