Book Character Day is Tuesday, 10/31!
Dyer Elementary is excited to announce Book Character Dress Up Day on Tuesday, October 31. On that day, each student is invited to come to school dressed up as a character from a favorite book. Since this is a literacy celebration, the characters should come from a story that was a book first.
Please do not feel like you need to purchase a costume. A simple homemade costume is great!
Your child should bring a copy of the book the character appears in or a picture of the front cover of the book.
Each teacher will select one student to be interviewed as their character by Mrs. Langford & Mr. DiFilippo. In addition, each class will vote for their "Favorite Character" and "Most Original/Creative Character" (think creative use of materials.) That makes for a total of 3 prize winners per class, those students will get to choose a book from the Bookmobile!
Volunteers Needed for our PAWS Party, Tuesday 10/31!
In addition to our Costume prize winners, students that used their PAWS tickets to attend the October PAWS party will also get to select a book from the Bookmobile. We are looking for volunteers to help us run and manage this super fun event. The kiddos will have pizza, a fall dance, and a visit to the Book Mobile. Volunteers will be needed to serve pizza & drinks, supervise the dance party, and assist with the Book Mobile. There are several one hour shifts to choose from between 12:15 -2:45. Please sign up here if you can help out!

Parent Surveys
Parents,
Please help us improve our school by taking a few minutes to complete two very important surveys: one for GCPS and one for the State of Georgia.
Each year GCPS conducts a Parent Perception Survey which is available on the Parent Portal. Once you log-in to your account, the survey should automatically pop up on your screen (make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off if you don't see it). Click here to log-in to your account. If you haven't yet set up a Parent Portal account, please visit our main office at Dyer to complete the brief form and show your valid ID. We also have computers available in the Media Center for you to use to complete the GCPS survey.
The other survey is from the State of Georgia and assists with our College and Career Readiness Climate Star Rating. You may complete the State survey on your computer, smartphone, or tablet or again, at the Dyer Media Center. We would like ALL parents to complete this State survey, and all responses are anonymously submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Please click here to access the State survey.
We hope you will take a few minutes to complete these two surveys to help us improve Dyer Elementary. Thanks for your support!
