EHS Athletic Department Update

"Home of the Eagles"

April 15, 2016

It looks like we are going to have an extended period of Spring like weather which allow our Spring Sports teams to get back into their schedules and play their games without too much interruption. It will get busy now as the Baseball and Softball teams will be playing regularly scheduled games and mixing in make up games in when they can. The unfortunate thing is that many of the non-league games may not get made up because we had too many cancellations and not enough dates to make them up in but we will do our best assuming we don't have many more cancellations. Below is some summaries for our Spring Sports teams for this coming week.

Boys Baseball

Our Varsity and JV Baseball teams came off their 2 week weather related break with wins against Fostoria on Wednesday night. The Varsity Baseball team will host Toledo Christian in a double header on Saturday, April 16th starting at 10am. The Varsity will have a busy week next week with games on Monday at Otsego, Wednesday at Woodmore, Thursday at Rossford, Friday at Carter Park versus Elmwood (7pm) and finish the week at home on Saturday with a double header versus Van Buren. Tonight the JV Baseball team will travel to Toledo Christian for a 5pm game. Next week they will host Otsego on Monday, host Rossford on Thursday and travel to Elmwood on Friday.

Girls Softball

Our Girls JV and Varsity Softball team came out of their long break successful as well as the Varsity defeated Fostoria 23-0 and the JV's won 17-2. In the Varsity game Freshman pitcher Ashley Hitchcock tossed a Perfect Game with 13 strikeouts out of a total of 15 batters faced in a 5 inning game! Congratulations to her on this very rare feat. The Softball teams have very busy schedules this week as well starting with a huge NBC conference game tonight at home versus Elmwood which they won 4-2 in a thrilling come from behind walk off win on a 3 run homer by Carleigh Coffield. On Saturday the Varsity will host Liberty Benton in a double header starting at 11am. On Monday they will travel to Otsego, Tuesday they go to Bryan, Wednesday the go to Woodmore, Thursday they go to Rossford and then next weekend they will travel to Akron to play in the Rock and Fire Softball Tournament at Firestone Stadium with a double header on Friday against SVSM at 6pm and Stow at 8pm. On Saturday they will finish their busy week by playing Medina. The JV's will play Elmwood tonight, host Otsego Monday and host Rossford on Thursday.

Boys/Girls Track

The Boys and Girls Track teams came off of their break as well with victories over Rossford and Woodmore last Tuesday at Rossford. On Saturday they will travel to Napoleon to compete in their Invitational starting at 9am. Then Tuesday they will travel to Elmwood for a dual meet starting at 4:30 and then we will host the Eastwood Relays next Friday starting at 4:30pm. The Eastwood Relays is one of the best run and competed meets in Northwest Ohio and this year the following school are competing in Boys and Girls. Bowling Green, Clyde, Liberty Benton, Findlay, Napoleon, Sylvania Southview and Whitmer. If you want to see great competition and a quality meet then the Eastwood Relays is where you will want to be on Friday, April 22nd. Our coaching staff and all of the volunteers help to make this a meet that teams like to compete in and be a part of.

Schedule Star Updates/Twitter

Due to all of these cancellations which will cause many make up contests, it will be very important to stay up to date on Schedule Star for all of the changes. You can sign up on Schedule Star to be notified anytime there is a change in the schedule and I would advise those wanting all of the updates to sign up for this service.

Twitter is another way in which we communicate up to the minute information on game/meet status so if you already use Twitter make sure you follow us and if you don't, it might be a good idea to get on it. I also will frequently tweet out scores from games and meets as I get the information.
