ADAMS APPLE – MARCH 2019
Greetings! March is finally here; if the warmer temperatures would also arrive that would be great! Please continue to have your child wear weather-appropriate clothing including a coat throughout this month.
Third grade students will be participating in IREAD-3 during the week of March 11th – 15th. Students will take the test on Tuesday (3/12), Wednesday (3/13), and Thursday (3/14). If you have a child who is participating in this assessment, please be sure that they have plenty of rest each night and a good breakfast each morning. Please try to avoid taking your child out of school for appointments, arriving late in the morning, or leaving early at the end of the day. A regular schedule is best if at all possible. Test results should be available when we return from spring break.
This Friday, March 8th at 7:45 AM is our next meeting for All Pro Dads. Please sign up online if you plan to attend so we can have an accurate count for our Chick-Fil-A order. We hope to see you there!
Friday evening, March 8th, is also the Mother/Son event at Adams from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Mothers and sons will enjoy glow activities, etc.
Adams’ first ever MATH Bowl team competed in February and placed third! Congratulations to those students and Mrs. Betz, the team sponsor and coach.
The Adams Elementary VEX IQ robotics 5th grade team will compete this Saturday, March 9th, at the state tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium! We are very proud of all of our robotics students who have embraced this challenge and have had fun learning. Good luck to the students and Mr. Yeoman, the team sponsor and coach.
Our next PTS meeting is Tuesday, March 12th, at 7 PM in the media center at Adams. I encourage you to attend. We will be doing a lot of planning for the Spring Fling. This is a huge event that requires a lot of brainpower for new ideas and manpower for execution.
March 15th is the last day of school before spring break begins. Students will bring home report cards on that day. Spring break will be the weeks of March 18-22 and March 25-29. School resumes on Monday, April 1st (really, truly – not a joke).
Thank you for your continued support at home in reading and completing reading logs to document the efforts. Readers are leaders!
Kind regards,
Jaci Greig

Wall of Fame
Franklin Township Community Schools is Proud to Announce the Establishment of the Franklin Central Wall of Fame!
The history of Franklin Central can be traced back to Commencement Exercises for the Franklin Township Community Schools in 1891! During the past 128 years, countless students have graduated from Franklin Township and have gone on to influential careers that have showcased the value and importance of a Franklin Central education!
The Franklin Central High School Wall of Fame is being established to recognize individuals that have made significant contributions to Franklin Township Schools. The nominees can be alumni or anyone who has made a significant contribution to Franklin Township Schools. Nominations may be made by alumni, parents, current Franklin Central students, faculty, staff, school district administrators and residents. Posthumous nominations are also accepted. All nominations will remain active for three years.
We are currently accepting nominations for induction to the inaugural Franklin Central Wall of Fame. You may nominate candidates that you believe have had significant contributions in making Franklin Central and Franklin Township one of the highest achieving school systems in Indiana by clicking on this link: www.tinyurl.com/fcwalloffame. This link will remain open and active until midnight, March 22, 2019. The inductees will be honored at our first annual Franklin Central Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony Dinner/Gala to be held on April 27th at the Indiana State Museum. Ticket prices and additional information will be released on April 1, 2019, along with the names of the 2019 Wall of Fame inductees. Please mark April 27, 2019, on your calendars as you will not want to miss this event!
From the Nurse
Dear 5th Grade Parents—The IN State Dept. of Health has released the new immunization requirements for the 2019/20 school year. The requirements follow this notice.
What this means for your students:
Current 5th-grade students need to obtain shots for middle school. Tdap, MCV4 are the required shots prior to 6th grade.
This list of updates means that it is imperative to call your student’s doctor today to schedule an appointment before school starts at the end of July. Please do not delay—appointments for well-child visits will be necessary and many children in Indianapolis need to have shots. Students are expected to have the necessary shots when school begins.
Once your 5th grader has obtained the needed immunizations, please provide an updated copy of the immunization record to the school nurse at your elementary (if obtained this school year). The record will be forwarded to the middle school and no further action needed on your part at beginning of next year.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and feel free to call Mrs. Davis, RN at 317-860-4289 if any questions.
