Applications Open For Innovate WithIN Competition!
Is your student creative thinker or do they show an interest in entrepreneurship? STARTedUP Foundation’s Innovate WithIN is Indiana’s premier pitch competition where your child would have a chance to win thousands of dollars in scholarship money to a wide variety of Indiana schools just by completing the course work. This year, colleges and universities have committed a combined $23M in scholarship dollars. Sign up soon so your student has enough time to submit their idea by the February 3rd deadline! Last year, then-freshmen Isis Fleming and Kayla Davis of Patchables won the competition and have grown leaps and bounds with the support of the Innovate WithIN program! We would love to see more of our Brickies show off their innovations and chase their entrepreneurial dreams!
Governor Eric. J. Holcomb, Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, and Treasurer of State Daniel Elliott invite Indiana high school students to apply for the 2023 Governor’s STEM Team. This program honors four outstanding high school students for their exceptional efforts and accomplishments in one of the STEM disciplines. Winning students each receive a $1,000 deposit into an Indiana CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings plan and letterman jackets identifying them as members of the Governor’s STEM Team. Applications may be submitted through Friday, February 3, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Contact IDOE’s Office of Teaching and Learning with any questions.
It's that time of year! We are excited to celebrate our students and their talents at the Brickie Makers and Innovators Showcase!
Students can register for the Brickie Makers and Innovators Showcase at www.hobart.k12.in.us/MakerRegistration.
Students must be logged into their SCOH Google account.
Deadline to register is March 29, 2023.
We want as many students as possible to showcase their hobbies, creations, and projects!
If you have a PLTW group in your school, we would love to see those projects here.
It does not have to be limited, though, to PLTW and STEM…..we love seeing art, writing, music, crafts, food….the possibilities are endless! These can be projects that students have completed for school, or designs that they have done outside of school – let’s celebrate the many talents of our students! More information on the Maker Movement and the link to register online can also be found at www.hobart.k12.in.us/maker2023
Questions or concerns? Please contact Becky Williams at bwilliams@hobart.k12.in.us. Please encourage your students to participate – it’s amazing to see their passions!

iReady Assessments for Grades K-8!
i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction. i-Ready replaces the Star Renaissance Assessments that they students took last school year.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions based on student responses. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! I look forward to sharing i-Ready information with you throughout the year. If you have any questions about i-Ready, please do not hesitate to contact the school. You can also learn more about i-Ready by visiting i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter.
