Dear RES Families,

Fall is in full swing, and we have a busy week coming up at RES, beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, when students in grades 1 - 4 will have their pictures taken. Then, on Thursday, Pre-K and kindergarten classes will be smiling for their pictures. Students will take individual photos, and composites will be used to create a class photo this year to support our physical distancing efforts.

Click here to preorder your pictures from Lifetouch now! You'll need our Picture Day ID: EVT8WVG84.

FIRST VIEW App (Transportation update)

If you are having problems with the First View app for bus transportation updates, it is possible there were some changes to the route or the timing of your child's pick-up or drop-off.

First View is updated ONCE A WEEK on Wednesday nights. IF the app dropped your child's pick-up or drop-off information or shows "no services," you need to go into the app and re-add the pick up or drop off stop. App users may be disconnected from a stop they’re following, if it’s moved in our system manually to another route, another location and/or the stop time is changed. If any of these things happened, then that’s why you may have lost the PM service or AM service.

The transportation changes have finally started to level off now that we are 14 days into our school year. Hopefully, this will be your final tweak with the app. You can also reach out to the First View support team at support@firstviewapp.com or directly from the app by selecting the envelope icon.

Thank you.

Grade 4 Fall Gardening Club

Parents of Grade 4 Students who have registered for the Fall Garden Club should make sure they note that exception in School Dismissal Manager (SDM) on the days their child will be attending Garden Club. Please refer to the calendar below as to the gardening dates so you can update SDM. You can make it a recurring exception for the dates noted on the calendar.

We are grateful for the overwhelming response we had for this program. It filled up in two days. The club will be offered again in the spring to Grade 4 students.

Thank you.

NEWS FROM OUR HEALTH OFFICE

Health Office Updates:

  • The students are doing a great job wearing masks! It is still warm outside and they do often get sweaty after recess and PE, so please send a couple extra masks to school with your child.
  • Please monitor your child(ren) for any signs and symptoms of illness. Please keep students home if they are sick and/or if they have a temperature above 100.0 F. Report absences in School Dismissal Manager and/or email the nurse.
  • Please report all POSITIVE COVID tests immediately to the school nurse and the district coordinator at covid@er9.org and jconnolly@er9.org. If you have any questions about this or the protocols please call 203-938-2519 ext. 309. Also notify the nurse if your child is identified as a close contact of someone with covid outside of school.
  • Students should also have a change of clothes at school or in their backpack in case of spills or accidents. We do not have extra clothes in the health office.

LOST AND FOUND

With only 21 days of school, we have collected a great deal of clothing in our lost and found. Our lost and found is located in our vestibule at the main entrance. We do look for names to find their owner, but we have an abundance with no identification.

We have a number of sweatshirts in all colors and sizes - Cat & Jack, GAP, Nike, Champion, Reebok, "POTTER 07," etc. We also have water bottles, masks, one blue lunch bag, even a dress!! Many of these items are left out at recess time.

Please stop by if you are missing some sweatshirts and check the table in the vestibule for something that might belong to you.

Thank you - Bobbie

CAR TAGS FOR DISMISSAL

Dismissals for parent pick-up is by our CAR TAG system. Families who were here last school year should have retained their car tags to be used while their child is at RES. New families were issued car tags that you should keep until your child enters JRMS in Gr. 5.

There are 3 backpack tags that can be used for siblings either now, or later as your family grows. IF you lose one or do not have enough, please consider making copy of that tag to match your car tag number and affix to your child's backpack.

Information regarding our dismissal procedure is available in our summer mailing located on our website at www.reddinglementaryps.org Please refer to our handbook.

Thank you -

Important Reminders

Arrival & Dismissal

Parents/Guardians who are dropping off students in the morning, or picking up students in the afternoon are asked to remain in their vehicles during this process. We will have staff on hand ready to support during these transition times. If you are dropping off your child in the morning please be sure their mask is on and backpack is ready BEFORE you pull up to the drop off location, so that we can quickly and safely transition kids out of vehicles and into the building.

IF your child needs extra help getting in / out of your vehicle, please park your car in an available parking space to assist your child, and please walk them to the curb. This will help move our car line along more swiftly.

RES Visitors

Due to the current health and safety precautions in place, we are limiting visitors in our building to essential business only. If you need to come to the school to pick up your child, please be sure you have a government issued ID on you for entry each and every time. Even if we recognize you, we will ask for your ID. This is our policy.

Traffic Safety

Please be reminded to follow all traffic rules while driving in our parking lots and around RES, including stopping at stop signs and adhering to the speed limit. Cars may not travel into the bus loop during arrival and dismissal.

School Dismissal Manager

If there are changes to your child's dismissal plans, remember to log in to School Dismissal Manager to update with the new plans before 1:30pm or 11:30am on an early dismissal. A reminder that 'bus' is the default for all students. Distribution of a student pick up number tag, or the data from the summer survey does not automatically inform us that your child is a pick up. RES relies on our daily SDM report as to what your child is doing at the end of the school day.

DROP OFF SAFETY

Please be mindful that there are students being dropped off for classes other than just PreSchool at the far side of the building. There are attempts to make 3 point turns in the middle of the driveway. This is causing vehicles to back into the vestibule entry location, which is VERY dangerous with the students and staff entering that doorway. THANK YOU.
