Math

We have completed Unit 1. We are now working in small groups to learn at the pace that is appropriate for your child. We began Unit 2 the last week in September. Your child works through 4 stations each day. They go to the teacher station to receive their instruction for the day, a work station where they complete their assignment, a game station where they work on a math game to practice concepts, and finally a fact station where they work on basic facts.

You can help your child practice basic math at home either by www.sumdog.com or www.mobymax.com. Your child has login names and passwords for both sites. Their login for both sites are the same as their AR login. Have fun practicing!

Science, Social Studies, and Health

This month we will study a unit on safety which includes playing safely outside, fire safety, home safety, and conflict resolution. Our social studies unit will be about different communities (rural, urban, and suburban), rules within them, groups that people belong to within their community, and customs. Our health unit will be a study of the brain and how it works. Finally, we will finish with a unit on needs and wants.

Halloween Party

Big image

Our party is scheduled for Friday, October 28th at 1:30.

Please SEND your child’s costume with them in their backpack the day of the party. We will be changing into them at 1:30. We will be making Witch's Brew that day. Please send in a small package of a treat to add to the brew. Examples: Skittles, M&M's, marshmallows, raisins, pretzels, etc. We mix the brew in a big cauldron. See picture above for an example. I will send a reminder before our party to bring in your treat.
