Here Comes the Judge
Two Months of Uncertainty
Jury Duty for Mr. Foreman
Yes, after nearly 45 years I have finally made the grade for jury duty. I will not be in school tomorrow and I find out on Monday what days I will be out over the coming two months. At this time, I have secured coverage from Ms. MacPherson, who completed her student teaching this past fall. She is an outstanding young teacher and I feel lucky to be able to have her cover my class. I will let everyone know what days I will be out as soon as the judge lets me know.
Report Cards Coming MONDAY
If you don't see them tomorrow, please let me know ASAP. While I will not be in school, I will be on email if you have any questions. Please keep the report card and return the envelope signed. Thank you.
Persuasive Letters
Tomorrow, you will receive from your child a simple letter. You may be surprised at this letter, as we have been working on persuading our parents on something that we truly NEED. Don't worry, it never really worked on my folks either. Your response to the letter has no bearing on your child's grade. However, they do need to return the letter on Tuesday with your signature on it, showing me they did in fact show it to you.
Reading and Math Clubs
In tomorrow's Monday folders, you may find information about reading or math clubs in fourth grade. We will be offering these for students the fourth grade team believes would benefit from additional support in the coming weeks. This is an after school club with no cost to you. Mrs. Greenwood will be leading the reading group and Mrs. Fiddner and I will be handling the math group.
Jamestown Field Trip May 29th
I share this so early for three reasons: one is graduation, the second is cost, and the final is chaperones. The 29th is also Western Graduation. We plan to return to Brownsville at 5:30, which the past two years has meant we returned at 6:15 p.m. Cost will be $50 per student. If this is a concern for your family, we have scholarships available. Don't send money until the formal permission slip goes home. Finally, we will have three chaperones per class. In a few weeks, I will ask for volunteers. If we have more than three, there will be a parent lottery for the slots. If you are chosen, please plan on an experience like you have never had in your life.
