May 2017

Director's Note

If I could describe April and May in one word it would be – programs! April had a fantastic Stuffed Animal Sleepover for little ones and a really fun Cosplay for teens. That is on top of the normal 27 programs we do each month! Those programs are for a variety of ages- birth on up! So check the schedule and see what we are up to!

May will have one more unique program- Escape from the Library on May 5th at 6pm. This is a fun evening for 3rd-5th graders based on the book by the same name. It certainly might help if the kids have read the book but it isn’t required.

And after that we are fully into Summer Reading prep! This year is going to be packed full of programming! We will still have our Monday afternoon performer but we are doing a lot more! More storytimes split up for multiple ages, movie nights, game times, a Story Walk and so much more!

We are so excited for everything this summer will offer you. The programming will be amazing. The entire program starts June 5th with the Blank Park Zoo coming to the Family Life Center at 1pm. And don’t worry- we won’t forget about the reading portion! More information is coming soon!

This event is based off of Chris Grabenstein's book Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, attendees will try their hand at puzzles, riddles, pictograms and library knowledge, much like the characters did in the book. D.I.Y. Storytime

For the month of May, there will not be storytimes with Miss Dee, due to summer reading program preparations. However, you will be able to come in anytime the library is open to do a D.I.Y. Storytime, Miss Dee has pulled books for four different themes with songs and rhymes to go with, along with a coloring sheet for your little one to take home. These D.I.Y. bundles will be located behind the desk, just ask a librarian and they will be more than happy to help you, these storytime bundles are for in-library use only.
