The Book Fair will continue to be open throughout conferences for shopping. Our final day for shopping will be Saturday, November 2nd from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Be sure to stop by and help support one of our school's largest fundraisers!
The Coin Drive also continues through the 2nd, so please continue brining any extra change you may have! Remember the donations go for new books at the Adams library, and Scholastics will match the money made and donate for books to kids in need!

Saturday, November 2nd: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
THANK YOU!
Thank you parents for providing our teachers with lunch, coffee and treats during conferences. Much appreciated!
Adams Parents’ Community Night
Come learn, laugh, and lend a hand! You are invited to the first ever Adams Parents’ Community Night this coming Tuesday, November 5th from 6:30 – 7:30 in the library. To help foster a welcoming and supportive environment for our parents, these events will be held periodically throughout this year and will feature a guest speaker, a chance to socialize with other parents, and some hands-on tasks that will directly support our staff and students. You can have fun, be informed, and feel accomplished all in one night! During this first event, Principal Beth Martin will be sharing information with us on the school’s new social-emotional curriculum and fielding questions from parents on bond progress and other happenings at Adams. We will then get a chance to socialize and get to know other Adams parents with some snacks while we staple, stuff (envelopes), sort and support our school! To support our Adams community, Oregon State has donated two Men’s Basketball tickets so during our meeting, we will raffle them off. All you have to do to be entered is attend! Free child care will be provided in the gym. We hope you will join us and help make this community night a success!
Walk and Bike to School Day
Walk & Bike to School is scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month and we need your help! Our goal is to recognize the students who have walked or biked to school that day. We need volunteers to help staff the tables at the entrance to the school to distribute participation tickets and fruit leather. We also need volunteers positioned at Western View to help safely walk with the students who are dropped by the bus or their parents at that area. Please sign up here https://signup.com/go/oLHNfcL for the volunteer position that interests you. Thank you for your willingness to help! ***All dates have been posted if you'd prefer to sign up for your desired times now***
Jog-A-Thon
COMING SOON! Adams Elementary Jog-A-Thon Tuesday, November 19 - Thursday, November 21!
Jog-A-Thon materials, including pledge envelope and informational flyer were distributed to each student this week during conferences or no later than Monday, Nov. 4th. Please take a look at the materials and start seeking pledges and donations. This is our school's biggest fundraiser with this years proceeds going toward playground equipment, repairs and maintenance.
The Jog-A-Thon will take place during the classroom regular PE time in the gym. See schedule below for each class day & time. Following the run, each student will receive a banana to replenish. That means we need lots of bananas AND volunteers to count laps. Feel free to sign up for multiple volunteer spots if you have more time to give or have more than one child. Come and listen to upbeat music and cheer on our students while counting laps. Please sign up to contribute at the following link: https://signup.com/go/xAtUtkP
Have your child bring a water bottle as well as wear comfortable clothing and shoes on their Jog-A-Thon scheduled day. Your support of this APA sponsored fundraiser is greatly appreciated. Please get involved, any financial amount, or time volunteering help make a difference at Adams!

Pe and wellness news
PE NEWS
Every class except one was able to squeeze in a PE session during the shortened week. Students are warming up with practice at Jog-a-thon speed: not too fast, not too slow. K-1 students did movements that mimicked Halloween costume ideas. 2-5 students played "Pumpkin Patch Harvest:" an activity in which each harvested pumpkin had an exercise task that students did in pairs. Then, every class played "Bean Bag Trick or Treat. In this game, teams of students collected bean bags from a neighborhood protected by ghost taggers.
WELLNESS NEWS
We ended October's Kindness Month with a challenge to perform random acts of kindness. Each child received a list of 60+ ideas to inspire them. When you come in for conferences, there is a list in the hallway next to the other kindness reminders. During morning break, AIM continues every T, W,Th; Yoga is every M and W. The week of January 13-17 is Bring Your Parents to PE Week. Sunday, January 26th is Adams Afternoon at Peak Elite Gym. Plan ahead.

OBOB
Now at Adams: OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) a state-wide fall/winter event for 3rd - 5th graders. Students have formed their teams and should return their parent/guardian permission slips as soon as possible. Groups are beginning to meet starting Monday, November 4th. OBOB is needing only two more volunteers for OBOB to run smoothly this year. You would work with the student teams for 30 minutes a week from November to early February (you pick the day). Please visit https://signup.com/go/tRcpAHo to volunteer. For more information please ask the office or contact Tracy Erwin, tlerwin1@gmail.com or visit https://www.oregonbattleofthebooks.org/
