Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope for Heart
THANK YOU and Congratulations
-Thank you to Kathy Murray and Laurie Wanser for coordinating our Jump Rope for Heart event. It was a great day for kids to learn about their bodies and get some exercise too! Thank you also to all the volunteers who came out to support students during event day.
-Thank you to our amazing Dads Club for granting $2,200 in teacher wishes this week. Because of the dads, our students will have new weather tools, Snap Circuits, a rain barrel, ScootPad access, and WeDo Robotics. We want to especially thank officers Mike Coussens, Steve Flaherty, Ken Kitts, and Billy Wells for their support throughout the year. We appreciate all that you do!
-Thank you to ZEF and all ZEF donors. Last week, our school graciously accepted two grants. Mrs. Brimmer and Mrs. Williams received a grant for Tower Gardens and Mrs. Hamelmann received a grant for Junior Great Books. We are so excited for the new opportunities these materials will provide our students.
-And....congratulations to Mrs. Brimmer, who was selected to attend the Mickelson Exxon Mobil Teachers Academy! Mrs. Brimmer was selected as one of 154 teachers from across the nation to participate in a week-long, all-expense paid, professional development opportunity this summer. She was chosen from over 1200 applicants. We are so proud!
Information from the Clinic
We are asking for your assistance in picking up any medication that your child currently may have in the health care clinic by May 26, 2016.
We will not be sending any medication home with students, even over the counter medication. Parents must pick up ALL medication.
Any medicine that is not picked up by the end of the day will be destroyed by St. Vincent health professionals.
If you have any questions, please contact the clinic.
**************************************************************************
State law stipulates that the medical records of children on file at school show the required immunizations have been completed by the 20th day of the school year. That day is Sept. 6, 2016. Information regarding immunizations requirements for 2016-2017 can be found here.
Parents of children whose immunizations are not up-to-date should contact their health care provider or the Boone County Health Department to schedule an appointment for the necessary immunizations. Some pharmacies also carry the necessary vaccines.
If parents object to immunizations, a written objection must be on file in the school office by September 6, 2016. Children who do not have up to date vaccination records by that date will not be allowed to return to school until the proper immunization information is on file. Students who have appointments with their health care provider after September 6th may present proof of that appointment in order to stay in school
If you have any questions, please contact the Mrs. Hooks in the Union Elementary Clinic. Thank you!
