Shout Outs
- Officer Hood was recently recognized as Deputy of the Quarter by Sheriff Leon Lott. She is credited for going above and beyond the call of duty. Officer Hood was recognized as Deputy of the month (beginning of the year). She received a plaque, a challenge coin, and a gift card.
- Sheree Watson, mother of 3rd grader Cooper W. sent the following shout out: "I just want to share how AMAZING Ms. Burk is! Copper had a belt test in karate, and she showed up to show support! He asked her to tie his new belt for him! Thank yall for being such an amazing village!
- D. Gibson's small teachers for leading Friday's learning celebration.
- PTO Board for planning and organizing another successfull and well attended Fall Festival. Addtional thanks to parents and DFES staff that volunteered as well.

Exact Path
What is Exact Path:
Replacement for Compass (company is Edmentum)
Available for all K-5 students in the district (one middle school pilot)
Enrichment and Remediation activities in Math and Reading
Learning Paths assigned to students based on MAP scores (3-4 skills assigned at a time in the path)
Adaptive - Students work through their path until they hit a “Progress Check.” Based on their work through the path they will be assigned another path either at, above, or below the previous path.
Can be done at home (students must log in through ClassLink)
This program will be used in the computer lab but will be a resource available for use in classrooms and home use.
We will have Eddie Robinson with us Monday, October 14th to provide further insight for homeroom teachers. Teachers plan to join us during planning in the conference room.

District Leadership Team Meetings
District leadership teams will meet Tuesday. DFES data team facilitators will meet with Mr. Gantt and our school based leadership team with meet with meet with me in the professional development room. Our time will be spent analyzing 2019 state assessment data.
DFES will host 2 district leadership team meetings:
- Guidance leadership team in the media center
- 4K leadership in the mini theater

PBIS UnbeLEAFable Student Recogntion
UnbeLEAFable Student Celebrations will be held on Oct 18, Dec 6, Apr 3, May 29. Our faculty/staff members are encouraged to identify and nominate students who are going above and beyond with random acts of kindness.
Parents are invited to the ceremony. Students sit in the audience and a recognized by grade level. Mr. Gantt calls up each student by name and shares why they were nominated and are being recognized. Students and their respective families always beam with pride during this ceremony. Following the ceremony students and families will be invited to the cafeteria for light refreshments in the cafeteria.
The ceremony begins at 7:50 a.m. Students should be sent to the mini theater by 7:45 a.m. Honorees will return to class by 8:20 a.m.
We have 20 students that will be honored Friday.
