OMS Orchestra at Kennesaw State University
On Friday, November 8th, the Osborne Middle School 8th grade Orchestra traveled to Kennesaw State University to perform for nationally renowned adjudicators. Multiple orchestras from around the metro area participated in the two-day event. After the performance, Dr. Kirk Moss (from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota) worked with the students on stage to improve their already stunning performance. He was very impressed with their tone production, intonation, and high level of musicianship for students at such a young age. Check out their performance below and Go Osborne Orchestra!
Congratulations OMS Robotics Team!
Congratulations are in order for the 8th Grade VEX Robotics Team who competed in the VEX IQ Middle School Qualifier on Saturday, November 9, 2019. This win qualifies the team to compete at the state championship in February. Team members include Bobby Lau, Austin Mann, Macy Deignan, Iris Ochoa, and Maggie Hraga. Osborne is so proud of you all!

The Book Fair Is Coming! Mark Your Calendars!
The Media Center staff is happy to announce the OMS Holiday Super Hero book fair will be December 2-6. This year our vendor will be Follett Books, and we are very excited about what they have to offer. Purchasing from our book fair not only benefits our school in multiple ways, but it also provides your child the chance to put down the devices, turn off the TV and engage with characters in a whole new way. Reading with your child regularly allows you both to enjoy the adventure together.
Our book fair will run Monday through Friday, December 2-6, 9:00-3:50. We will also have a family night on Tuesday, December 3, 5:30-7:00 PM, in coordination with the sixth grade orchestra concert. Language arts teachers will each sign up for a time to bring their students to the media center to see what the book fair has to offer; students may also visit the book fair during homeroom each morning and throughout the day as their teachers will permit. Parents may visit the book fair any day during regular hours by first signing in at the front desk. A safe alternative to sending your child to school with money is a digital gift card, which can be purchased at www.follettgift.com. These gift cards are printable – you simply purchase the card, print it (we suggest typing your student’s name in the notes section so it can be easily identified in the event your student misplaces it), and send it to school with your child! You could also mention this to grandparents and other loved ones, who might want to give the gift of literacy to their favorite child! Gift cards are available in a variety of denominations beginning at $10. They have no expiration date, and they make great teachers’ gifts, which will help teachers build their classroom libraries.
