Background on America Vespucci
Navigator and explorer Amerigo Vespucci, the third son in a cultured family, was born on March 9, 1451, in Florence, Italy. Although born in Italy, Vespucci became a naturalized citizen of Spain in 1505. Amerigo Vespucci was an Italian explorer, financier, navigator and cartographer who first discovered that Brazil and the West Indies didn't represent Asias eastern outskirts. Vespucci was smart and he liked exploring because he would love to learn and try to learn new things everyday, Amerigo's family had a history of reading lots of book so there was a generation of knowing knowledge in his routes. In Amerigo's third voyage King Manuel l of Portugal paid for Vespucci's expedition in 1500.
Motivation of Exploration
Vespucci was always that person to love exploring things just find and discover more about those things. Vespucci became quite wealthy besides to spend his own money on his love of science and geography by slowly acquiring and impressive collection of books and maps. Vespucci approached explorations with a willingness to explore new ideas and cultures. And unlike other explorers before and after him, Vespucci's motivation to travel was based largely on his curiosity, not religion or greed. So Vespucci's motivation would be glory.
Accomplishments
Vespucci goal was to explore the opened up by Christopher Columbus. Coming from Europe Vespucci On his third voyage, he discovered present-day Rio de Janeiro. Believing he had discovered a new continent, he called South America the New World. Coming for Europe Vespucci sailed about 1,830 miles south and bumped on to the boarder of south america. While on the tip he also discovered the Bahia, the islands of South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands. This is a good thing that Vespucci did and because of Vespucci this brought honor and prestiege to his kingdom. In 1505 Amerigo became a naturalized citizen of Spain and in 1508 he was named Pilot major of Spain. This was a prestigious position that required him to use his considerable navigational skills. Vespucci helped develop a standerdize navigational techniques to select pilots.
