Week 2, Term 1

Principal's Message

Welcome to 2023!

Tēnā koutou katoa me ngā mihi i runga i ngā tūāhuatanga o te wā, kua hipa te tau | greetings to you all as we start a new school year.

We welcomed many new families to our school last week with a mihi whakatau and I trust you’ll all make them feel welcome and part of our school whānau. We also welcome Kelly Masters to Hautapu, Kelly is working in Tōtara class as a teacher aide.

We have all slipped back into our routines and the classrooms are full of exciting learning opportunities; this can be seen on display as well as in action. One of my favourite parts of my day is showing our many visitors around our school and witnessing the range of authentic, purposeful learning activities taking place. It is during these visits that I’m reminded how fortunate we are to have such well-resourced facilities. Prospective families are in awe of our beautiful pool, bike track, playgrounds, flying fox, tennis courts, courtyard area, spacious hall and well-equipped classrooms. We have our past and present Board of Trustees and the fundraising efforts of our PTA to thank for our inviting environment.

The Board of Trustees and I are currently working on our annual plan that aligns with the National Education and Learning Priorities (NELPs). Below is a snapshot of our draft Strategic Aims so far. We look forward to sharing the final document including our actions towards each goal in the next few weeks.

Ngā manaakitanga (with best wishes)

Orders will be delivered to school in the morning and children can collect their school lunch box from the office.

Communication

We have a number of different ways that parents and whanau can keep up to date with what is happening at our school.

You can download our school app (SchoolAppsNZ) via the android and apple store and this has been specifically designed for our school and our community. It allows us to send alerts straight to your mobile devices and it allows you to communicate absences to the school office from the app, as well as also providing a platform for you to contact your child’s teacher directly from the app.

We also have our school Facebook page which allows us to showcase some of the wonderful learning happening at our school. To keep up to date with all new posts please like and share our Facebook page (Hautapu School Community).

We also have our school website http://www.hautapu.school.nz/ as a place where parents and whanau can go to get information on our school.
