Hood River Valley High School

August 8, 2022

Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year Hood River Valley High School Eagles!

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer break with family and friends, and that you are feeling recharged and ready for a new school year. We are all excited to start a new year, welcome new families, and see all our returning Eagles!

This year there are a couple of changes that we have made. One of those changes impacts the structure of our counseling department. We are shifting away from having only one 9th grade counselor to sharing all 9th graders amongst all our counselors. This shift will allow for each counselor to have full four years to get to know students more in depth. Also, even though we will continue to focus on creating positive connections with students, we are moving away from a stand alone ELC time.

One item that continues to remain consistent is the correlation between student engagement and student success. There are many avenues to get involved at HRVHS, and I encourage you to get involved. There are a myriad of clubs, sports and activities to participate in at HRV. Once we get started, there will be more opportunities for you to learn more about how to get involved.

For now, there are a few pieces of information I'd like to share so you are ready for the first day of school. It is coming quickly, and we are all busy preparing for what we hope to be a great school year. Please see below for important dates and information.

See you all soon!

Update on School Counselors

We have exciting changes in the HRVHS Counseling Office. Ms. Tammy Hosaka is returning to HRVHS after serving as a school counselor for the past four years at HROA, and Ms. Sonia Cortez is joining our team from Hood River Middle School. Students can find out who they are assigned to below. Our mission is to advocate for the academic success, for the social and emotional well being, and for the widest range of post secondary options for each student. We look forward to see all of you very soon!
