National Book Award Finalist Kevin Powers will read from the Yellow Birds, take questions, and sign books. A harrowing story of the two young soldiers trying to stay alive, The Yellow Birds is this year's featured book in the Free Library's One Book, One Philadelphia program.

Introducting...TAKE 5
TAKE 5 is a new community engagement initiative being piloted during spring 2014 for student leaders within residential life. This initiative is targeted towards RAs, PMs, CCs, and RHA members to bring at least 5 residents within their community to a designated program.
Qualifications:
This initiative benefits RAs, PMs, CCs, and RHA members for programmatic credit without involving conceptualizing programmatic ideas, completing proposals, reflections, etc.
During this pilot, the professional staff member sponsoring the approved program will communicate any attendance via eRezlife to supervisors for satisfaction of a determined program dimension. See below for an upcoming opportunity with this exciting initiative.

- approved through residential life community engagement AD
- student leader MUST bring a minimum of 5 residents from their community
- stay for the full length of the program

Are you interested in facilitating a program in taking your students to see a Phillies game? CLICK HERE to visit the website specifically designed for Temple's Residential Life in reserving tickets and planning for programs in advance.
Additionally, the Phillies offer opportunities to host philathropic and fundraising events that can meet any of the required programming dimensions.
Community Standards Posters
Posters were delivered to the halls over spring break for resident assistants to list out all COMMUNITY STANDARDS discussed during the spring opening meeting with residents. Simply transcribe these community standards to the poster, and post in a visible area within your community.

Scenes from Conflict
Watch scenes from in Conflict, a play based on Yvonne Latty's book in Conflict: Iraq War Veterans Speak Out on Duty, Loss, and the Fight to Stay Alive. Award-winning director and Temple professor Douglas Wager, who adapted the book for the stage, will discuss the play and the process of translating experience into art with local veterans turned writers.
