Just In Time ELAR Training
Grades 3-5 - Don't Miss the Boat for the 1st 9 weeks
We will be looking at the Essential TEKS for the first 9 weeks' units for grades 3-5 ELAR, unpacking the big ideas and the PAs for each unit, and creating engaging plans to meet the rigor of each of the standards. When teachers walk away from us, they will have a plan and strategies for how to reach the rigor of the TEKS in their classroom instruction, implement those plans in the first 9 weeks of school, and assess students' mastery of those standards!!

Head bands activity
This is a review activity for kids who can read or recognize the words.
Your partner has a word on their head band. They can't see it, but you can. Try to help them guess by1. explain what it is without saying the word.
2. tell them what it isn't without saying the word.
3. give examples, act it out or draw a picture to help.
Is this Head bands activity a form of formative assessment?
Turn and talk to a partner. What would you do while the students complete this activity to gather information (data) and what would you do after this activity for students who were struggling?
