A grateful heart...
My heart is grateful for....
....Allyson Dickinson, who is sharing her extensive knowledge of Kaplan's Depth and Complexity structures with a group during GTU. Allyson trained with Sandra Kaplan, she has a great depth of experience, and we appreciate her sharing her expertise.
....Michael Maupin, who spent a Sunday afternoon putting together the new soccer goals, and time planning for how the new layout would look and work. It already seems to be an improvement over our previous recess arrangement.
....Heidi, who takes verbal assault on a regular basis from parents as she tries to keep our kids safe at the corner.
...Donna Waters, who loves and advocates for kids on a regular basis. Donna's love shines through and helps the rest of us do better because she cares so deeply that you can't help but be inspired.
....Jessica, who comes to work even when she's feeling crummy because she doesn't want to leave us in a lurch. I think she's caught about every virus that has circulated at Glenhope this year, so hopefully she'll have a built up immune system next year. We appreciate her great attitude and her terrific skills.
....Meagan Sanders, Christina Hayes, Cindy Farris, Leah Robertson and Brittany Cohen who have all had student teachers this semester. They will be finishing up in a couple of weeks and moving on to other volunteers. What great role models to learn from!
...Julie Lee and Tiffany Griffard, who not only delighted parents and students (along with Jennifer Bisballe, Jayne Williky, Megan Arnold, Annette Fennelly and Spike) with their performance in Popsico at the Talent Show, but also stayed and helped do the grungy clean up work with parents.
....Megan Arnold, who organized and initiated the teacher act in the Talent Show.
....Virginia, for overseeing and organizing the Talent Show. While it was very long, the kids did a great job and it was very entertaining!
....Jon Issacs, who stayed until the very end of the Talent Show to help with the sound.
....Leigh, for organizing and overseeing the Spelling Bee. Our student came in 3rd place in the district Spelling Bee.
...Will and Jeanette for organizing the Geography Bee for two groups!

VALOR
Applications for VALOR (Vanguard Association of Learning, Observation, and Reflection) will be available in February. VALOR is a group of innovative teachers who commit to reading, learning, observing, and reflecting together. It provides teachers the opportunity to visit classrooms all over the district, be observed by peers based on group and personal goals, and receive individualized feedback from an instructional coach. The following is a list of specific information regarding the application process:
Applications (google form) will go out February 13 in an email from Dr. Doughney and will be due by 5 pm on Feb. 27. Applications will be scored by the VALOR leadership team. Scoring will be based on a rubric and input from campus principals.
Those selected to move on to the interview process will be contacted by a VALOR leadership team member, who will schedule an interview. The interview will occur on your campus during your conference period or after school.
Dr. Doughney will contact those who have been selected to be part of the 2017-18 VALOR class.
We hope to invite about 24-28 people.
Here's the video that Christina and Julie did in case you missed it last week:
