Technology Information and Tips
YouTube
YouTube is blocked by the OPS filtering system, Securly. Students should not be accessing YouTube unless through school approved applications as directed by teachers.
Some students have found a loophole in the system and are accessing YouTube for non-school purposes. Our district Information Management Systems department is aware of the loophole. At school, there are procedures and routines in place to mitigate its usage along with consequences for not complying to the student Technology Usage Agreement.
We would appreciate your support in communicating your knowledge of this information to your student and encouraging them to remain on classroom content at school.
iPad Chargers
Please check with your student and ensure they have and are using their OPS provided iPad charger. Most non-Apple charging bricks do not have the power necessary to charge the student's iPad. Some can actually do the opposite and drain the battery or damage it.
If you find you need to purchase a new charging brick or brick and cable, they can be purchased at the main office. A full charger is $38 or $19 each if you just need a brick or just need a cable.
Arriving to school with a FULLY charged iPad will set your student up for a more successful day. Make this a part of your nightly routine!
Viral Challenges (TikTok)
The safety of our schools is always our top priority. We encourage any students and families aware of unsafe behavior to connect with Mr. CK or call the Safe Schools Hotline at 531-299-SAFE. Thank you for your partnership and support.
High Five Highlight
This section of the bulletin will highlight one story featuring Buffett Bobcats staying true to these values.
Rocking It with Lorenzo!
Lorenzo, a 5th grader at Buffett, has been training as a BMX biker since he was able to walk. His dad and younger brother also love the sport.
Lorenzo started on a mountain bike. Learning how to race takes lots of training and dedication. He remembers falling so hard after a jump that he almost broke his ribs. This did not stop him. Lorenzo continued to train on the mountain bike until he was ready for his first mini BMX bike. It was his favorite colors, green and black. Recently, he upgraded to a Proline Junior BMX bike in red and black.
Lorenzo trains once a week at Hefflinger's BMX park. His races are on Fridays. So far, Lorenzo has won 10 races and looks forward to one day joining a BMX team. When asked about his favorite part about racing he said, "At the start line when you hit the gate and rock it."
This highlights what it means to Be Your Best inside and outside of school. Lorenzo's dedication and perseverance keeps him competitive in a tough sport. We are proud that he is a Bobcat!
