St. Jerome School Weekly Newsletter
March 24th, 2021
“The secret of happiness is to live moment by moment and to thank God for what He is sending us every day in His Goodness.”
St. Gianna Beretta Molla
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
We have a new date for our Race for Education: Thursday, April 29th, 2021 (Friday, April 30th will be the rain date). We are a little more than halfway to our goal with $12,000 raised. This our largest school fundraiser and meeting/exceeding our goal allows us to do the extra things and make improvements to our school. Please visit our Race for Education page for more information and to pledge. We will continue to send home updates and more information as we get closer. We look forward to a fun and exciting day.
Tomorrow is a St. Jerome Spirit Day; for a donation, students may wear their gym uniform and any St. Jerome shirt or sweatshirt. Proceeds will benefit our school and contribute to our Race for Education total. PreK-3, PreK-4, and Kindergarten students may follow the instructions from their teachers on how to dress if they would like to donate and participate.
We had a great turnout at our uniform swap and shredding event this past Saturday. Thank you to your parents, students, and staff who volunteered their time to make for a successful morning.
Please remember that report cards were posted to OptionC this past Friday. Mr. Dooley has created a video (please see below) to help you with accessing the report cards. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about grades; Mr. Dooley can also assist with accessing OptionC so that you may check your child's grades in a regular basis.
Terra Nova testing continues this week for our 4th & 5th grade cohorts.
This Friday, we will be attending the 8:00 AM Mass and Stations of the Cross at 1:00 PM as we prepare for Holy Week. Fr. Reilly has also been celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation with our classes and will continue through this Friday.
Next Wednesday is a 12:00 PM dismissal at which time we begin our Easter break. Classes will resume on Wednesday, April 7th. As a reminder, the updated travel requirements and information from the Office of Catholic Education may be found here.
If you shop at Rite Aid, please remember that you can help support our school with your purchases; click here for the flyer with more information.
Please remember to return your Continuous Enrollment Form as soon as possible. Families whose students are fully virtual are welcome to pick a form up in the school office or print it out and scan/email it back to Mrs. Bacanskas. If you have any new siblings enrolling at St. Jerome School, please add them to the continuous enrollment form. We will then send you any addition forms that need to be for new siblings.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome, pray for us!
Protecting God's Children Lessons Part II
In the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, Article 12 calls for all dioceses to establish "safe environment" programs at all grade levels. This ongoing education is presented to the students in the parish and regional elementary schools of the Archdiocese as well as in the Parish Religious Education Programs (PREP or CCD) two times during the instructional year. This is a mandated obligation from the Archdiocese with the two lessons provided for our teachers.
Please only return the opt-out form (included in the Wednesday folder and below) if you wish to opt your child out of the lessons by Monday, March 29th. Otherwise, you do not need to return the form.
The lessons are available for you to review by visiting http://www.aopcatholicschools.org/about/programs and clicking on Safe Environment.
St. Jerome School will conduct these lessons next Tuesday, March 30th. Students who were opt-ed out will be supervised during the lesson by cohort.
