HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2015!!!
I hope everyone had a special holiday season and a restful break. I'm excited to be back and looking forward to an AWESOME 2015! Since the weather has been 'dicey' the last few days, please be sure your child has seasonal-appropriate clothes with sweat shirts/coats. I don't want start the new year off with kids getting sick!
What's Happening This Week!
2nd Grade will start the new year off with an exciting week of learning!! For Science/Social Studies the class will be learning about American Symbols - identifying the significance of American Symbols such as Statue of Liberty, Liberty Bell, Uncle Sam, and the bald eagle.. For math, the class will model multiplication situations and number patterns, continue with problem solving. For spelling,Unit 13: called, just, where, most, know, For phonics: we will focus on kn, gn and review suffix rules. For writing, we will work with personal narratives with a focus on organization and hooks (brilliant beginnings). In reading, the class will have an overview of Folktales (specifically, Fables, Myths, and Legends).

January 12-26th - TPRI Assessments
Monday, Jan. 19th - Student Holiday - NO SCHOOL
Wednesday, Jan. 21 - Report Cards come home

Math Practice!
Rather than sending the 'Math Practice' just via e-mail. For the new year, I will try something new! I will post the math skills we are practicing in class here on the Telegraph. Plus, I will do my best to include links that share the same skills.
