Gray Hawk Art Show was a SUCCESS

Kudos to Mrs. Ramsey for another incredible ART SHOW. It is such an amazing experience to see all of the artwork on display and to see the pride in the eyes of OUR GRAY HAWK artists and their families that were here to take it all in! Remember if you would like your child's FRAMED art piece that was on display, please send in $20 cash or check and Mrs. Ramsey will make sure to get the piece into your child's hands to come home.

FIELD DAY IS FRIDAY at BLHS

Field Day is this Friday at BLHS. K-2 will compete 9 - 11 am and 3 - 5th graders will take the field from 1-3 pm. Grade level teachers chose a Field Day color and students are encouraged to wear that color on Friday. (See the photo below for your child's color).

Coach Eller is still looking for a few more volunteers. Please check out his note below:

Field Day will be broken up into two different times. Kindergarten to 2nd grade will have their Field Day from 9-11 AM. 3rd to 5th grade will have their Field Day from 1:00-2:45 PM. I do ask that if you volunteer that you show up 20 minutes prior so that I can run through the information for Field Day with you.

Thank you for considering volunteering for Field Day, I could not run this day without all the volunteers, it is greatly appreciated! We will have a lot of activities for that day that I know the kids will enjoy!

Just click on the Signup Genius link if you want to volunteer!

Gray Hawk Neuro-News

Two of Dr. Springer's dearest friends - Guy Stephens from the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint interviewed Dr. Lori Desautels about using the Applied Educational Neuroscience framework in the classroom. This is well worth your time to give this interview a listen. :)

Our nervous systems and physiological states create and produce the behaviors in school we observe, question, discuss, punish, suspend, seclude, and attend to in all moments throughout the day! As educators who sit with 30 to 180 plus nervous systems every day, we have traditionally paid attention to observable behaviors, assessing them as appropriate, disrespectful, inappropriate, oppositional, aggressive, manipulative, and a variety of other labels and classifications.

Polyvagal Theory and the social and affective neuroscience research now share; that education requires “state regulation” so we are able to access and integrate the cognitive and mental tasks we need to succeed in school and positively navigate life experiences. In this webinar, Dr. Desautels will share the practices that address the nervous system states of our children and adolescents in the classroom preparing the brain and body to learn deeply, mitigating negative behaviors and meeting students in their brain and body state.
