REMINDER
Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up
**Reminder - Please do not use the parking lot closest to the office for drop off and pick up. This lane is for busses only! Thank you.**
When dropping off your student in the morning, please use the drop-off lane in front of the school (in front of the new addition). Please pull all the way forward to drop your child off between the asphalt drive and the front of the drop-off lane. Students should have everything ready to go, otherwise our drop off lane will get backed up onto Star Road. If you want to walk your child up to the school doors, you will need to park in a parking space or across the street in the park. Please use crosswalks when walking your child across the street and parking lot.
When picking up your student at the end of the day, students and parents should have a prearranged and agreed upon location to meet. For the safety of our students the city of Star, ACHD, Ada County Sheriff’s Department and the school ask that we do not park on Star Road. There is a bike lane, and it is also a no parking zone. If you use the pick-up lane, you must pull all the way forward and remain in your car and your student will meet you at the curb. Traffic can get backed up all the way to State Street, so we must be diligent in following our procedures.
School Resumes
We hope your holiday season was full of cheer and celebration of the new year. Star Elementary is excited to welcome students back tomorrow, January 9!
Thank You PTO
A big thank you to PTO for hosting Cookies & Cocoa with Santa. We had a great turn out of families to share in the festivities. It is always great to see such support from the Star community. Even Mr. Adams visited with Santa!
Holiday Concert Success
Thank you, Mrs. Benischek, for putting together a wonderful Holiday Music Concert for our 2nd & 3rd grade students. We also want to thank all the families for supporting the students. It was a huge turnout and our students did a fantastic job.

American Heart Association Kid's Heart Challenge
In the coming months, be on the lookout for the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge (KHC)! This year, our school will be learning about staying strong in body and mind, we’ll get moving with fun activities, meet kids with special hearts and raise funds for the health of all hearts. Plus, they’ll feel good for doing good!
Attendance and Tardiness
To ensure as much learning as possible occurs during the school day, students need to arrive on time and be in attendance for the entire school day. The first bell rings at 9:05 a.m. (9:20 a.m. on Wednesday Late Start) with teaching and learning starting right away. We know and understand some absences cannot be avoided. In those situations, we ask that you call the school office by 9:00 a.m.
Student Transportation
If you need assistance from the transportation department, click on the ticket and you will be directed to the West Ada Transportation Website. Here you can find the Transportation APP - Traversa Ride 360, Find My Stop, Bus Zones, and a link for submitting a HelpDesk Ticket. Use the HelpDesk Ticket to report behavior problems or bus incidents, find a route, report a late bus, the need for transportation, safety concerns, unlocated students, or an emergency.
Understanding Grades
The standards-based grading system can be difficult to understand for many since this is often different than previous ways of grading. Follow the directions below to find district information to gain a better understanding of your child's grades.
