CARPOOL REMINDERS
As we focus on maximizing safety during carpool, CFKN families can further support these outcomes by following a few practices outlined below:
Arrival and Dismissal
- Arrive before 7:20 am and 2:20 pm to avoid middle school traffic.
- For students not picked up before 2:45 pm, parents MUST park and walk in the front office to sign out their students.
- Please remain in line and in your vehicle at all times. Our staff members will provide assistance for students exiting the vehicle if unable to exit on their own. Students should not be walked across the parking lot unless a parent/guardian has official business in the front office.
- If there are any changes to who will be picking up your child, please contact the front office prior to dismissal. We ask that you please make sure the pick up person is aware of the dismissal guidelines and procedures.
- We do not dismiss students from the office after 2:00 pm. If you need to sign your student out early, it must be done before 2:00 pm.
When in carpool:
- Ensure students are prepared to exit the car with their bookbags on and other belongings in hand before reaching the drop-off area.
- Students MUST exit and enter the car from the passenger side of the vehicle. No student will be permitted to walk around the front or back of a car for safety reasons. Please make necessary arrangements to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
- During dismissal, please display carpool tags in the front window, hanging from your visor as you enter, and until students are safely loaded in the vehicle. This helps us expedite the system significantly.
- Please pull all the way forward in carpool (beyond the blue cone) to assist with carseats and seatbelts.
- We ask that drivers please refrain from cell phone use during carpool so that the safety of our children is not compromised.
Muller utilizes our carpool lane to help lessen the traffic out on Muller Rd. Arriving early will ensure that there are no issues getting through the line.
Late Arrival Procedures
If you arrive at school AFTER 7:40 am and there is NO ADULT ON DUTY in the carpool loop, you MUST park your vehicle and walk your child into the CFKN front office for their supervision and safety. Thank you in advance for your support in this matter.
- Tardies begin at 7:50am. An adult will need to sign the student in at this time, using the Ident-A-Kid kiosk in the vestibule.
Excessive tardies will be reviewed under the choice option for attendance to a magnet program.
Helping Hands Needed
There are still a few spots available for volunteers to help out with Veterans Day on November 11. If you are available and would like to help please see the SignUpGenius.
AFTERCARE PARENTS
Just a friendly reminder to keep up with your after-school care payments.
Payment is due on Monday of each week. Accounts must be kept current in order for your child(ren) to remain in the aftercare program. Payment is still required the weeks your child(ren) does not attend aftercare. Falling behind on payments puts you at risk of being released from the aftercare program.
Fall Semester Aftercare Tuition must be paid IN FULL by Friday, December 16th if you wish for your child(ren) to remain in the program for the Spring Semester. Thank you!
LUNCH AND LEARN SERIES FOR PARENTS

FROM THE LIBRARY
Hello Families:
Students are beginning to struggle with returning their library books on time. Please take a look at the following guidelines that are followed in the library:
Students in K-2 do not check out a book if they already have a library book at home (they didn’t return their book). After three weeks of not returning a book, the librarian will mark the book lost in the system which automatically places a charge for the book on the student’s account. The charge is reversed if/when the book is returned.
Students in 3-5 are allowed to have 2 books out at one time. Any book that has been overdue for three weeks, will be marked as lost and a charge for the book will be placed on the student’s account. The charge will be reversed if/when the book is returned.
Because it is so disappointing to the student, the librarian, the student’s teacher, and of course the student’s parents when our children cannot check out a book, please help us by establishing certain protocols at home such as identifying one place in your home where library books live and setting a calendar reminder for your child’s library day so you know which day the book needs to be back at school.
I appreciate your help with getting books returned on time! Please let me know if I can help you in any way. I value your children and love being their librarian.

As technology has become more accessible to younger students we want to remind all of our families that we follow Richland Two School Board Policy related to Electronic Communication Devices.
