SUMMER SCHOOL
MCHS is offering a comprehensive summer school this year to address the academic needs of our students. Students are highly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities. The summer school offerings require students to be in attendance in-person at MCHS. All summer school offerings are subject to change based upon staffing and student enrollment.
MCHS students will have an opportunity to earn credit in any core classes they have failed either this school year, or during previous terms. Any student in grades 9-12 who have failed a core class in Math, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education/Health, or English should consider a MAP Credit Recovery since these are required classes toward graduation. A certified teacher will be available to assist students with the Educere online program during the summer months, therefore student attendance for in-person learning is required. Students who successfully complete any of the available courses will earn 0.5 credits/course. Below is the link to the MAP Credit Recovery flier and relevant information for those courses:

MCHS will also be offering classes for students to get ahead in their coursework in the Physical Education and Health Department. Eligible students can consider signing up for Driver’s Education Behind-the-Wheel (BTW). Sign-up for BTW will not begin until Wednesday, April 5th and will require onsite registration. Below is the link to the relevant summer information for this opportunity:
MCHS also offers a transitional Mathematics and English curriculum to incoming freshmen in the Class of 2027 who qualify. Below is the link to the Fresh Start flier and relevant summer information for those classes:

5ESSENTIALS SURVEY
Thank you to all the parents who completed the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. We still have not had enough of our parents complete this survey and will not receive a report unless we receive more responses. If you have not yet done so, I urge you to take a moment and complete the survey by clicking here. The survey can be taken in either English or Spanish and should take less than 10 minutes. It is important that we have as many parents as possible take this survey. The timeframe to take the survey will end soon, so we ask you to do so as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this very important endeavor.
HUMANITIES
Humanities' class quarter 3 performance projects. The junior students in the class had to come up with an original performance that fit into the first year in our class' study of the history of mankind. The group performing a dance on stage learned and taught the Greek Zorba dance (or Sirtaki) to the class since we are currently studying Ancient Greek epic poetry and tragedy. The group performing a puppet show built, designed, and painted the framework in addition to drafting a script to summarize The Epic of Gilgamesh into a children's puppet show. Using the script they wrote, they made puppets and costumes for all the characters, integrated sound effects, and put on a 30-minute performance of this ancient Mesopotamian hero's journey.
