Weekly Tiger News
Emerson Elementary Communication - March 24, 2022
Greetings Emerson Parents,
On behalf of our entire staff, we are looking forward to seeing families and teachers connecting next week for conferences. Our students have been working hard, learning and supporting one another in classrooms and across our campus.
Recently I’ve come across these resources from Washington State Department of Health. Many students and families are facing mental and emotional challenges related to the coronavirus pandemic. This site has resources to help families and people within our community. For mental health resources and support for kids, click here.
I also wanted to remind all of you that we have some exciting things taking place on the Emerson playground next week. An anonymous donor made a significant contribution along with the Snohomish Lion’s Club, to add a large climbing structure, a slide as well as some new outside lunch tables to Emerson’s playground/facility. Beginning March 31, our district maintenance department will start preparing the area for the installers to complete the installation of our new equipment the first week of April (during spring break). We will have temporary fencing around the play area, so students will be able to see some of the process next week, and then will be excited to play on the equipment after we get back from spring break.
On April 9, Central-Emerson PTA volunteers will be at Emerson helping to spread wood chips in the new playground areas. To sign up to help, click here. A big thank you to our PTA leadership for helping us facilitate this amazing update to the Emerson playground and a huge thank you to the Snohomish Lion’s Club and the anonymous community donor. We are very lucky to have such great support!

Emerson Coin Drive - Thank you!
One of the key themes in our literacy curriculum, as well as our social/emotional curriculum is: Empathy.
With that has come questions and conversations from the students around the current crisis in Ukraine. After brainstorming how we can help, students decided to raise money through a school-wide coin drive to support displaced children. This was initiated by them, and we couldn’t be prouder of their empathy for humanity. This drive will start Monday, March 14 and continue for 3 weeks. Please consider digging up spare change to add to our cause.
We are pleased to report that Emerson students and families have contributed almost $1,000. In addition, the Snohomish K-6 Remote students, who are based out of Emerson, have also contributed more than $775!
Way to go Emerson/Snohomish K-6 community.
