Science with Ms. Hoyle
This week we are exploring biodiversity and how different factors affect biodiversity. We are also focusing on note-taking, and I am asking students to reflect on which types of notes work best for them and the way that they learn. Students can use their notes on their assessments at times, so it is important that their notes are organized in a way that helps them find information quickly and accurately.
Math with Mrs. Bange
Tuesday:
We will begin subtracting integers. Students will finish lesson 2-5 and will be assigned problem set 2-5.
Wednesday:
We will take notes on Lesson 6: The Distance Between Two Rational Numbers and students will be assigned problem set 2-6.
Thursday and Friday:
Students will continue adding and subtracting integers and be assigned problem set 2-7.
These plans are subject to change.
World Geography with Mr. Akagi
For our next, short week in World Geography, we will be looking at the issues facing the Amazon Rainforest. Students will partner up to look at 6 different groups of people who all have different intentions for it, from preserving it, to deforesting it. Students throughout the week will prepare for our Socratic Seminar on Friday, in which students will share their thoughts and perspectives on the issues facing the Amazon, and what should be done about it. They will back up their discussion with facts from our research throughout the week.
Language Arts with Ms. Griem
Language Arts will be finishing Act II of The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. Students will be focusing on answering the EQ: “What are the effects of irrational behavior?”. At the end of the unit they will be writing an essay using the texts that we have read and answering the EQ.
