Dear Cavalier Team,

I cannot believe that we have made it to our last full week before Thanksgiving Break. I am hoping to get back on track this week; between the holiday in the middle of the week and me being a little under the weather, I feel like I have not been 100%. I apologize if I have been a bit off rhythm. Our focus for these next couple of weeks will be on administering benchmarks in the most intentional way, continuing with instruction and analyzing data.

I have asked our PE teachers if they would allow the administration and the counselors to meet with our D and F students during PE classes. We will be meeting with our 8th graders on Tuesday and our 7th graders on Thursday. We will be pulling the students from their PE classes and meeting with them in small groups to talk about their grades, study habits, and promotion requirements.

We will be having our Faculty Meeting this Wednesday; our counselors will be sharing important information about semester moves, promotion requirements, and new updates. We will not have Staff Development in December to allow for more time to plan, create common (formative) assessments, study the data and develop further instructional plans.

For those who are using Google Drive, I included a short video about organizing your drive. I know I could definitely take some time to get mine more organized!

We would like to have a Thanksgiving breakfast pot luck this Friday. If possible, please bring a dish to share with our Cavalier staff. We will begin at 7:00 am and have room 108 open throughout the day. Please come and share food, laughter, and memorable moments with others during your prep.

Finally, the horrible events that have taken place this year and those that took place in Paris over the weekend may have our students a little confused and scared. Many of our students may have questions. I have included an article that I found to be most helpful. Please read and remember that our students feel safe at our school. Most of them do consider CVM as their second home. Let us help them continue to value and respect this wonderful place as their safe haven.

Please help our students focus on the good that people are doing. You may also want to ask them for ideas on how they can help make our world a safer place. Empowering our students to understand the power and influence they have to make our school and community safer will help them learn to practice the art of giving and kindness.

Please let us know if you need assistance with this or any other matters that you may find difficult to discuss.

Thank you!

Julissa

As we prepare for Thanksgiving Break- we will set up a Thanksgiving Station in room 104 for you to share what you're thankful for! Please take a few moments and write it down on a sticky note and place it on our Thanksgiving Wall!
