Congratulations CCS STEM
Coltrane-Webb Elementary, Patriots Elementary and Central Cabarrus High STEM programs have been deemed Distinguished STEM Schools on the Model Level! This is the state’s highest rating for STEM schools. JN Fries was already established as a Distinguished STEM School during the 2015-2016 school year.
To receive this honor, each program completed an arduous application process outlining its STEM teaching and learning practices. Eighteen schools applied for the designation; only eight were selected for site visits. During site visits, judges toured classrooms, reviewed student work and participated in a panel discussions of students, parents and business partners. Judges walked away impressed with the rigor and talent within our STEM programs. DPI representative Tina Marcus stated during the visit, "That this is the only program like it in the state and should be a model for other districts."
Our STEM schools will be recognized on June 2nd in Raleigh.
Congratulations!
