Odds and Ends
*TOY - Our 2016 TOY will be announced at the staff meeting on Friday, February 12th.
SPIRIT Meetings - Our next SPIRIT Meetings will take place next Thursday, February 18th. Following our meetings in December SAC discussed creating a meeting agenda in order to keep us on track, as well as provide a guide for teachers to use as they discuss their students. Additionally, members of the SPIRIT team requested a bit of student information ahead of time, so they have time to brainstorm specific strategies to recommend the classroom teacher try with the students.
If you have a student new to the process please send me their SPIRIT referral form by Friday, February 12th. On the form, please be sure to note your SPECIFIC concerns and intervention strategies tried.
For students discussed at one of our previous two meetings (Oct & Dec) please be prepared to update the team on there progress or lack thereof. If they are still struggling send me a quick email by Friday, February 12th, noting SPECIFIC concerns and intervention strategies you have tried.
I will forward the student's names, concerns, and strategies tried the the SPIRIT team, so they can be thinking about additional ways to support the students.
UPDATED: BAS Information- The BAS testing window for K-4 has been moved to mid 4th quarter, exact dates will be communicated soon. The 5th grade window has remained February 16 - March 10. This change was made in order to provide year long data, as well as reading level information to start the year. While it is not required to give the BAS at this time, there may be some that you want additional information for report cards. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help in any way.
Analyzing ECOs- You got off to a great start analyzing the reading ECOs during the December and January PD days. This work should now continue in your PLCS. You can structure it however you'd like (ex. work on one ECO every other week, one a month until the end of the school year). You will want to complete analyzing the reading ECOs this year, as we will pick up with writing next year. There are additional yellow organizers by the mailboxes in the copy room. Please let me know if I can assist in any way.
February 12th Early Release - In order to ease printing the early release specials/party/lunch schedule will come in a follow-up email. PD will begin at 1:45 in the UV library for all classroom teachers, librarians, and SSD staff. This will be our first exposure to the new writing materials, so it is important that everyone be there. Please bring the resource shown below. You will NOT need your computer.
