What a Great Girl Scout Tea!

Thank you parents...

Thank you Eva for hosting our very first Girl Scout Tea & Cookie Exchange! Also, thank you to all moms for helping your daughter make cookies and treats to share. Our daughters will certainly remember this special day they shared with their mothers!

Next Troop Meeting

Our next troop meeting is Wednesday, January 20th at 6pm (place TBA). Girls will make SWAPS for encampment, plan their next skill badges they chose to earn, and vote on their FUN field trip for this year.

Happy New Year...It's Officially Girl Scout Cookie Time!

The Girl Scout cookie pre-order officially started this week on January 4th, and the presale period runs from January 4th - January 24. Our budding entrepreneurs are to wear their brownie uniform with sash when conducting official Girl Scout business. Cookies will be delivered to the girls between February 12 - February 14, and the girls will collect money when cookies are delivered to their customers. The girls are building valuable skills and confidence during this process, so it is important that they are “in charge” of their cookie business.

Cookie Dates & Info

Dates to mark on your calendar:

January 24 - cookie presale ends; cookie count due

February 12-14 - girls receive cookies

February 15 - cookie delivery to customer

February 19 - booth sales begin

March 13 - all cookie sales; money due

Katie and Mercee will be checking in with you occasionally to see how things are going. If you need more forms or have any questions, please let them know.

Happy selling!

Mercée and Katie

Here, you can be part of Cookies Across America, a virtual cookie rally. You'll find lots of videos, information and ideas for your cookie season. Here is an egram about the upcoming show.

Encampment

Encampment is coming! This experience is TOTALLY made for the girls, and the #1 reason girls love Girls Scouts is because they get to go camping! Over 100 girls from the Sunny Palms Community (South Tampa) will be at Encampment. The theme this year is a Western/Cowgirl theme.

We have finally learned some details at our council meeting this week. Sorry for the delay in getting information to you. Encampment will be from Friday, February 5th through Saturday, February 6th. Girls will participate in a variety of activities to include Archery, campfire making, and SMORES! Best of all, they get to spend a fabulous fun night together and learn more about Girl Scout camping.

Encampment Volunteers

The Girl Scout ratio limits the number of moms allowed to attend encampment. Our volunteer moms are expected to help facilitate jobs & activities at Encampment and most likely won't be able to spend much time with her child. We already have our "camp" volunteer mom (Rene Chapados) who plans to attend. We are able to bring along one more mom to HELP with ACTIVITIES. If you are interested please send a text to Athena to 727-656-9438 by Friday, February 8th. Cindi and I will draw a name from a hat to determine who will attend.

SWAPS

So what are SWAPS you ask? They are Keepsakes for Girl Scouts!! Swaps, the tradition of Girl Scouts exchanging keepsakes, started long ago when Girl Scouts and Girl Guides first gathered for fun, song, and making new friends. Swaps were widely exchanged at national Girl Scout Senior Roundups in the 1950's and 1960's. In more recent years, some Girl Scouts describe the types of objects now preferred as swaps by calling them: Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere. We hope to make our SWAPS at our next troop meeting.
