Montessori Prep
In the Montessori Prep room we have been practicing stacking blocks. The boys mostly like knocking them down but are trying to stack as well! I have been wishing for some snow by making winter themed artwork. We have been very fortunate to have had some good weather and the babies even had a chance to get out for a stroll. Kieran and Arjan are adjusting wonderfully to their new school. We are glad to have them! We celebrated Kieran's 1st birthday this month.

Pre-Primary
Pre-Primary is so excited to have new friends in our class. We welcome Joaquin, Maya, Caleb, Ashley and Jackson! So exciting to see new friendships forming. We are also pleased to have Ms. Justin teaching in our room full time.
In Pre-Primary we have been hard at work categorizing our seasons and learning the beginning sounds to words through our matching work.
The class continues to enjoy our sign language class and we have caught them at lunch showing each other signs for manners, colors etc.
We will continue to work on matching uppercase letters to lower case for our older students and letter recognition for our younger students.
We really look forward to February where we will learn about hibernation and properly caring for our teeth!

Primary
Rosie cheeks and chilly weather
Sometimes make us huddle
Like penguins together.
This month we have become experts on polar bears, penguins and chilly weather animals. All our activities this month were created to help teach and explore Arctic weather habitats. We will take what we learned this month and use it to compare animals that hibernate. We look forward to studying bears, rabbits, hedgehogs and more. {Oh My!} We will also study information on keeping our hearts, bodies, and teeth happy. February is dental health and heart happy month. We look forward to some parent presentations and plenty of heart happy and healthy activities. We are excited to prepare the classroom for all the adventures and activities we will have next month. Make sure you take time to have family conversations about all the great challenging and fun work your children have been working on. They love to review word papers, counting activities, and share the processes behind our art.
Sign Language
Who can count to 10, talk about family members, and use manners in sign language? We can. Each sign language class is an adventure. Questions and suggestions from students are always welcome. Basic signs are helping start conversations and each new sign is increasing vocabulary. All the children are picking it up quickly and can be seen practicing in the middle of a story or during free time. It is fun to try and match signs to well-loved stories or new traditional ones. Just like in the regular classroom we use hands on materials, colorful objects, and try to build on previous knowledge.
