Back To School Night is tonight!

We look forward to seeing our new and returning Falcon families at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Thank you parents, students, and all of our wonderful Fulmore personnel!

Advanced Academics Survey

AISD is soliciting parent input regarding Advanced Academics opportunities in South Austin. We will have the survey available today in the library during Back to School Night and are including it here in case you would like to provide your feedback earlier:

Gifted and Talented

The Gifted and Talented nomination process for students will begin Monday, September 14th. If you would like to nominate your child for the GT program, nomination packets will be available in the counseling offices. AISD identifies students in the four core academic subject areas of: language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Please join us on September 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the Fulmore library for information on GT testing, programs, and The Duke TIP program.

In other GT news, please join the GT club September 21st in room 505 from 3:45 p.m.- 5:45 p.m. for their first meeting. This first meeting is for current 7th and 8th grade identified students. More information will go out to student's on September 14 during their ELA classes.

REHUGO Summer Project

The REHUGO project is an important part of what makes Fulmore Magnet's curriculum unique and rigorous. Please support your students in completing and turning in their projects. REHUGO will be referred to throughout the year in all Language Arts and Social Studies classrooms and will be an important part of student's first six weeks grades. Kudos to our Magnet Language Arts and Social Studies teachers for using part of their summer to plan terrific cross-curricular learning opportunities for students. Thanks for supporting your student's success!

Buses

Thank you to all of our bus riders for a great start to the school year. We are communicating with transportation about our buses that are consistently running late so that they can continue to work on adjusting routes.

Please continue to communicate any bus concerns with the magnet office and/or AISD Transportation: 512-414-0238

·Bus Passes: Parents, please provide a handwritten note giving permission to your student to ride a different bus than their assigned bus within 24 hours.

Late Activity Buses

Late buses are available and leave school at 5:30 p.m.

· Students should be given a pass for late buses from the teacher of the after school program they are attending.

· A large poster of the late activity bus schedule and routes can be found in the breezeway outside of room 108 near the gates on Leland Street and in the Magnet office.

· In order to better assist our students please have students know or write down their address, the nearest AISD School to their home, and a good phone number for a parent or guardian.

Voluntary Magnet Parent Directory

There’s still time if you would like to be included!

Please email your information to Ms. Quintanilla at samantha.quintanilla@austinisd.org by no later than September 15th. There will also be a sign up sheet for the Parent Directory at Back to School Night at the Magnet Table.

Your information will only be shared with parents who are part of this directory. We are looking to publish this in late September.

Please include: student name, parent(s)/guardian(s) name, email, phone, and zip code.

Team Meetings

We welcome you to contact us anytime to set up individual or team meetings concerning your student. Ms. Quintanilla can set up individual appointments with me or schedule a teacher team meeting.

Our teachers are teamed by grade level so that all core content teachers are available for parent meetings on Fridays. Our grade level teams are available during the following times for parent conferences:
