Currents is an online newsletter written, edited and designed by the ROP Writing and Editing for Publishing class that also creates our award-winning literary magazine, Seven-Eighths Under Water.

Chico State University – High School Scholars (HSS):

If you are a Junior or Senior who plans on taking a class at CSU Chico next semester, you must do the following:

· Attend a mandatory HSS Orientation session to receive an HSS application and other important documents.

· Be enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade of a local admission area 2 high school (Academic Year 2015-16).

· Possess at least a 3.0, non-weighted, academic high school GPA (both 9-12 and 10-12).

Mandatory HSS Orientations will be held on the Chico State campus from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on the following dates (choose one):

· Monday, December 7th or

· Tuesday, December 15th

AG LEADERSHIP MAKES CHRISTMAS CARDS!

Last week, Miss Champlin's Ag Leadership class decorated Christmas cards for Sa'fyre Terry, an 8-year-old girl who lost her family to a fire and asked for cards for Christmas.

Remember to turn in your new, unwrapped and tagged gifts to under the tree in the main office. They should be turned in on or before Thursday, December 17th!

These talented CHS students performed last Friday and Saturday nights!

STUFF THE BUS!

The “Stuff the Bus Toy Drive” is on! Chico High is collecting toys to donate to children who are less fortunate. There is a bin inside the Main Office by the back door. Please bring any new unwrapped toys and place them in the bin now until December 18th. Help make the holidays happy for many!

CHS CHOIR LIGHTS UP THE HOLIDAYS!

The CHS choir sang at Chico High Friday night along with PV and Inspire choirs!

WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENTS LEARN INTERVIEW SKILLS

The Work Experience class prepares a job portfolio during the first semester. It contains the student's resume, reference sheet, cover letter, transcript, letter of recommendation, and more. The culminating activity is the mock interview where students use interview skills, learned in class, with business people in the community and CSU, Chico Career Center interns in simulated interviews. Below are some of the students practicing what they've learned!

A Children’s Concert “Symphony Surprise” on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., in Laxson Auditorium on the Chico State Campus. Tickets are $5.

OUTDOOR SCHOOL COUNSELORS NEEDED!

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS! OUTDOOR SCHOOL COUNSELOR APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! Chico Unified is looking for camp counselors for their 6th Grade Outdoor School Camps located at Shady Creek, Whiskeytown and Butte Meadows. Outdoor School is a week-long outdoor education camp where counselors will have the opportunity to help students learn about themselves, work together, make new friends, and develop responsibility while supervising a small group of 6th grade students in a cabin setting. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and can be returned to Counseling once completed.

Who drove a red Ford Falcon to school and has been married (nearly 40 years) to her Chico High School sweetheart? We have the answer in the Library!

NEW ASB/ID CARDS

ASB Cards and ID Only cards can still be picked up or exchanged at the Panther Post first window, before school, at lunch or after school.

Re: New immunization requirements for 2016

Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade.
