Y1 & 2 Showcase
December already! The end of the school year may be approaching fast, but there are still plenty of exciting things happening here at school.
The Year 1's put on a wonderful performance yesterday evening, and it was great to share this experience with whanau.
The Y2 Showcase is all set for tonight and promising to be just as spectacular - I'd like to thank both teams for their hard work training up our budding superstars for their moment in the spotlight!
Next week brings the Y0/1 Athletics event (weather permitting!), and also the excitement of Y6 Camp, which is a high note on which to celebrate their final weeks here at MENPS, to be followed by the Y6 Graduation on Monday, 12th December.
Fair Total and End of Year Picnic Dec 14
A reminder also that the PTA have set the date for the end of year picnic for Wednesday, 14th December, which we hope everyone will be able to attend.
I'd like to congratulate the PTA and Fair team for raising a confirmed fundraising total of over $50,000, which is an outstanding achievement!
Get Involved in 2023!
The challenge next year will be to pass the torch for key upcoming PTA role vacancies for 2023, so please see the PTA section below for further information.
Get in touch if this is something you could help with in order to ensure the PTA continues to support our school next year!

A huge thank you to Sally Collins and Emma Pickles for running this excellent community service, and important fundraiser, over the last few years.
Jane Cunningham who has been working behind the scenes with online requests for uniforms for the past year will be heading up the uniform shop in its new location.
December PTA Meeting
A large portion of the meeting was focused on the challenge we are facing finding volunteers from the current student body's parents/caregivers to fill vacant roles in the PTA. We understand this is an issue our neighbouring schools are facing, as we look ahead to 2023 we will try to find new ways to engage helpers.
Save the date - PTA end of year picnic
5pm, Wednesday 14th December, School Field
Bring a picnic blanket, some food and drink, and let the kids play while you catch up with other parents.
(Apologies for the misprinted date in last weeks newsletter).
PTA roles in 2023
We want you to join our team! We need help filling a few roles - please email us at menpspta@gmail.com to nominate yourself for any of the following:
- Chairperson - We need a new parent/caregiver to bring their enthusiasm and energy to the role as we look ahead to a year of smaller events. Our amazing chairperson Aimee has stepped down and will be focusing on helping with sponsorship for PTA events in 2023.
The Chairperson is responsible for making sure that each meeting is planned effectively, conducted according to the constitution and that matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner. The Chairperson makes the most of the committee members, building and leading the team.
- Secretary - we are reducing this role to be responsible for all correspondence the comes to the PTA gmail inbox. The secretary must have an excellent knowledge of Google tools, able to attend every PTA meeting, and have sufficient time to deal with a very busy inbox.
Many thanks to Jane for her time in the secretarial role alongside her immense fair duties. In 2023 Jane will be helping with the second hand uniform shop so we need a hero with a flair for admin to take on this role.
Pam will be picking up the duties of setting meeting agendas, setting up meeting requests and keeping the official records of meetings through the minutes.
- Treasurer - we are splitting this role in half to reduce the number of hours required by each volunteer. We need a new person to be responsible for cash handling/bank liaison/ eftpos machine organising/ reimbursements.
Many thanks to Diem for tackling this role in 2022 and to Linda for continuing in her role focusing on background accounting and reporting. Teamwork makes the dream work.
In 2023 we will be running some new community/fundraising events - a fun list of fundraising ideas has been collated. If the above roles don't sound like a good fit for you - but you would like to help with a one off event instead, let us know.
Thanks again to the sponsors of the Food and Fun Fair 2022

Support our school by eating a delicious Roast at The Bridgman.
Seems too easy but $10 of every kids meal goes directly to our school funds. All you need to do is book your table and put MENPS into the ‘requests’ box and they will donate the profits of your kids meals back to the school.
Easy right?
Just book here - The Bridgman | Corner of Dominion & Valley Roads | Carefully curated food, drinks & cocktails.
The Bridgman are also generously running a food stall at the upcoming Food & Fun Fair.
