Attendance and Tardiness
To ensure as much learning as possible occurs during the school day, students need to arrive on time and be in attendance for the entire school day. The first bell rings at 9:05 a.m. (9:20 a.m. on Wednesday Late Start) with teaching and learning starting right away. We know and understand some absences cannot be avoided. In those situations, we ask that you call the school office by 9:00 a.m.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week will run October 23 - October 27 with the theme, "Be Kind to Your Mind: Live Drug Free". Students will participate in planned activities during Health class and each day they can dress up according to the daily theme. Let's show that school spirit!
Picture Retakes
Halloween Parade
Students will have the opportunity to participate in the school Halloween Parade on Tuesday, October 31, at the end of the day. They may dress in a school appropriate costume for the day. No masks or weapons are allowed, and the costume must be school dress code appropriate. Thank you for helping this be a fun-filled day for our students.
Food Drive for Thanksgiving
Star Elementary's Student Council will be holding a food drive to help fill the needs of families this Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for additional information. We will begin collecting food soon, with November 10 being the cut-off date.
Student Transportation
If you need assistance from the transportation department, click on the ticket and you will be directed to the West Ada Transportation Website. Here you can find the Transportation APP - Traversa Ride 360, Find My Stop, Bus Zones, and a link for submitting a HelpDesk Ticket. Use the HelpDesk Ticket to report behavior problems or bus incidents, find a route, report a late bus, the need for transportation, safety concerns, unlocated students, or an emergency.
Veteran's Day Program
Our music teacher, Mrs. Benischek, along with our 4th grade students, have been working hard on their Veteran's Day music program. Students will be performing on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10:00 am sharp in Star Elementary's gym. We encourage family, friends, and Veterans to attend and celebrate those who give and have given so much to our country.

REMINDERS
Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up
**Reminder - Please do not use the parking lot closest to the office for drop off and pick up. This lane is for busses only! Thank you.**
When dropping off your student in the morning, please use the drop-off lane in front of the school (in front of the new addition). Please pull all the way forward to drop your child off between the asphalt drive and the front of the drop-off lane. Students should have everything ready to go, otherwise our drop off lane will get backed up onto Star Road. If you want to walk your child up to the school doors, you will need to park in a parking space or across the street in the park. Please use crosswalks when walking your child across the street and parking lot.
When picking up your student at the end of the day, students and parents should have a prearranged and agreed upon location to meet. For the safety of our students the city of Star, ACHD, Ada County Sheriff’s Department and the school ask that we do not park on Star Road. There is a bike lane, and it is also a no parking zone. If you use the pick-up lane, you must pull all the way forward and remain in your car and your student will meet you at the curb. Traffic can get backed up all the way to State Street, so we must be diligent in following our procedures.
