Rainbow Club
The Rainbow Club is starting up in December! Rainbow club is a safe, nurturing place for students to explore their identities. Identity is the qualities, beliefs, personality traits, appearance, and/or expressions that characterize a person or group. All 4th and/or 5th-grade students are welcome! The Rainbow club will take place during 4th and 5th-grade lunch and recess. It will be a student-run club, meaning students make the rules and will decide what they want to discuss and do during the time while Emily Russen (School Counselor), Alex Ryder (Wellness Coordinator) and Jill Everett (School Counselor) provide support for these meetings.

Lesson on Inclusion
We are excited to provide a lesson on Inclusion for your child and their classmates when they return to school from fall break. This lesson will be provided to all 4th and 5th grade students. These lessons will be provided during their scheduled Wellness time that week. Lessons will be focused on identity and expression in order to support the Flynn School to become a more inclusive educational community for all students. The lesson will be 30 minutes in length and be taught by Emily Russen (School Counselor), Alex Ryder (Wellness Coordinator) and Jill Everett (School Counselor). Please click the following links for more information on the specific lesson plan being taught, resources on terminology, gender and expression and the gender unicorn (this specific resource will be shared with students). If you are interested in learning more about the importance of inclusive schools please see the attached from the 2021 National School Climate Survey from GLSEN.
With Gratitude,
Jill, Alex and Emily
