June Marauder Moments
2022
Message from Dr. Avery and Miss Chaya
In June we both close out the current year and plan ahead for the next. Please remind your child to look around their room for school items they need to return. Community service forms are also due by the end of the month in order to count toward their total. Students will retain their current locker for next year, but will be asked to clean it out for the summer.
We are working on the schedule for the 22-23 school year. Finalized schedules will be available in late August, If changes to schedules are needed, students can email their counselor. Our counselors work specific days in the summer, so they will return messages when they come in. We build the schedule around student course requests in the spring. If your child's wishes change over the summer, that may make ensuring they can fit everything trickier but we will do our best as always.
We will send you a list over the summer for needed supplies. I would like to encourage families to reuse old materials as much as possible. We also have lots of spare binders every year that we will put out for students to take.
Also late in August we will invite seniors to have first pick of parking spaces if they have met the criteria. Seniors need to have all of their required community service hours logged to secure a parking spot. Juniors will be invited after, and need 15 hours, or 75% completed. The parking agreement is available online. In order to maintain this parking space they must be on time to school and keep their grades up. They must also remember to keep their hangtag on their rearview mirror when their vehicles are on campus. Students may lose their parking privileges if they cannot be on time, stay eligible, and follow the parking rules.
The offices are open most days over the summer, from 8am-3pm if you need anything. Incoming freshmen will be welcomed to the high school on August 29, and while they will have tours, you are welcome to bring your high school student to walk around the building in the summer to get used to it.
I hope you have a wonderful summer and look forward to celebrating your children with you at our awards nights and graduation.

Information for New NHS Members
New National Honor Society Members will be selected from the upcoming Juniors and Seniors in the fall. Please keep in mind that in order to be eligible for an application to become a member, you will need to have a 90 or above average (unfortunately per our Chapter By-Laws a rounded average does not qualify). For those students meeting this criteria, you will receive your application sometime during the first week of the 2022-2023 school year. Students who choose to complete the application are required to fill in all of the sections of application, which is based on the Five Pillars of National Honor Society (Knowledge, Leadership, Scholarship, Character, and Service), and write an essay about how they best represent these pillars in their life. Once applications are received, High School Staff members are asked to provide feedback on the students. All student applications are reviewed by our Faculty Council, who are looking for the most well-rounded applicants who they believe will have the greatest impact on the community and the Williamson Chapter of National Honor Society. If you have any questions or are looking for more specific information regarding National Honor Society, please contact Mrs. Foss, the faculty advisor. She can be reached via email at mfoss@williamsoncentral.org.

Summer School
If your child will end up requiring summer school, there are important criteria for students and families to know ahead of June. In order to participate in our regional summer school, students must have an overall grade of 55 or above. They must also have attendance above 80%, and special circumstances will certainly be considered, especially in light of the pandemic. We do not want students coming to school sick. Students also have to be engaged learners, making a good effort to do their best.
In June, teachers and counselors will discuss final grades and notify any students who qualify for summer school. Students who do not meet the criteria for summer school will be re-enrolled in that course next year.
This is a six week program, so attendance is non-negotiable. Summer School will not permit more than three absences before you are dropped from summer school. Please make note of this and plan vacations and trips accordingly if you anticipate summer school as a need.
Summer School will be held at Sodus this summer. Western Wayne Summer Academy will run from July 6th through August 15th, Monday through Thursday (4 days a week - in person). Class times are 8:15 - 9:45 am (1st period) or 10-11:30am (2nd period).
There will be a bus that leaves from the middle school tennis courts each morning promptly at 7:50am for the 1st period bus and 9:40am for the 2nd period bus.
When final grades come in, if your child failed a class and is eligible for summer school, you will receive a phone call and an email with the link to register for summer school classes.
Please contact the Counseling Office with any questions.

2022 Tennis Team
The 2022 tennis team had a fun and successful season. Some highlights include having eight seniors (You will be missed!), being crowned co-champions of our league, four players earning individual sectional patches, winning the consolation tournament at sectionals, being seeded second in team sectionals, and making it to the semifinals. The team was very close and we created many memories that will be cherished for a very long time.
Much love,
Coach Delehanty
